Hi guys, got a quick question for everyone. So I'm primarily an offensive player.. I play both doubles and singles, but mostly doubles since whenever I play, there are too many people there for singles court time. So far, I've used an MP 100 3UG4 US version and an MP 88 4UG4 US version. I really like the MP 100's power, but sometimes I feel like sacrificing some of the MP 100's power for the 88's feel is worth it. However, I've heard really good things about the AT 800 OF and the NS 8000. Can anyone tell me which one might suit me better? So far from what I've heard, the NS 8000 is too head light and not stiff enough for my needs. But from what I read on these forums, the head lightness is offset for power by faster swing speed? So I'm stuck. Haha, I don't know which racket I should buy. I realize that racket choice is purely personal preference, but any input you guys can offer will be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have any different rackets to recommend, I will keep an open mind. Thanks in advance, guys (and girls =P)! ^____^

    clarification of my style

Hi again, just to clarify, I am more of an offensive player. I play badminton 5-7 days a week for at least 3 hours each session. Yeah.. I love it. =P Based on the rackets I asked advice on.. I guess you can say that price isn't an issue.. unless there's a racket more expensive than the ns8k or at800of.. in which case I'll have to think about it. haha. Anyways, thanks again guys, <3. =D

    Choosing rackets

    Hi,
I had used both these rackets before(NS8K ad AT800OFF). From yr information, since u have used MP 100 before. The closest will be AT800OFF.It is a very stiff racket, good for offensive player. Good for smashing. As for NS8K, it is good in clearing and fast swing. But not powerful in smashes as AT 800OFF.I do play about 5 to 6 times per week but I have switched to AT 800DEF and Ti10 and sometimes,I do use MP100. I sold my AT800OFF and my NS8K is idling.:p Occasionally still use it.;) U should choose 3U G5 if u prefer a lighter racket and smaller grip. If not then u should 2U G4 then.;)

Thanks for your input, Matrix. I wanted to try a Ti-10 or a Iso Ti-Swing Power SS/SX, but those rackets aren't readily available in the US. =( But yeah, thanks again! =]

Maybe try both rackets (take 800DE with the ride as well), and you will know better. To get ur hand on the rackets, u can borrow from fellow players, or borrow / rent from a local store something. ;)

AT800-DE, it's probably the most underrated racket around. :p

Sir! I never, ever said I did not like the Armortec. In fact I think it's a great racket. What I do not like is the fit and finish of the racket not the performance.

    So to summarize:

+The performance of the Armortec rackets is excellent and it's S4MadMan approved!

-The fit and finish of the Armortec rackets is terrible (relatively speaking) and it's not S4MadMan approved.

    :D

    ok ok.

this is what one guy i know did.
Bot a brand new car, remove seats and tape off all interiors and engine compartment. Sand and remove original paint, reprime it, feather fill it, and repaint with several coats of paint, then pearl and then clear coat.

I think u should do that on your armortec :D

    I have no ATs left. :p But I have an 4U AT700 coming. :D

Why? After getting a beat down by some "A" players yesterday, I realized, I need a lighter racket to try and keep up with their speed. My heavy 2U and super endloaded 3U rackets are great for smashing but they are definitely slower for driving and defense.

I'm picking up an NS8000 today...again as well, to see what's the best balance between OFFense and DEfense. :p

What do you mean by the 'fit' of the racquet?

Automobiles commonly use the term "fit and finish". Fit means the quality of the parts and how they "fit". The AT800 uses less durable grommets when compared to their old rackets. The cone and how it is attached to the handle is not good. I've had 5 cones separate from the handle. The OEM grip is fragile. Use for about a month or two at most and it's toast.

The finish on the AT800 is the worst I've seen, one little clash and it chips to the graphite. In comparison, a Ti10 would not even have had scratch. I can then peel-off the exposed finish with my finger nail.

Dang.. lol, so many replies, but only 2 of them applied to my original topic. sadface. =( Haha, it's okay though, thanks for the input, but please continue to advise me on my predicament. Cooler, which of those do you enjoy playing with the most? What do you guys recommend for me? I'll look into trying the rackets next time I get to club. =) Thanks again guys!

Oh yeah, should I try the 4U or the 3U versions of the AT800DE? Which do you guys like? Is the AT700 as good as I hear it is? (4U version). Thanks

Definitley 4U. 3U versions will swing like old 2U rackets. Unless, that's what you prefer.

why don't you just wait a week or so and get a yonex nanospeed 9000, it is making it's debut at the all england open (although no informtion has been released on it). i guess that it will be a better racket than those two... it should be:rolleyes:

My guess is you're a bit too late to tell him about NS9000. He posted in November 2005.

Meh, I still think you need to try a racquet to really know if you like it. There must be some shops that have a trial policy or maybe some club friends. They can give you specs to death and you still might not like it.

"Better" is a really subjective term. :)
