    HONG KONG, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- All the Chinese players eased through the first round at the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2005 which started Tuesday.

    In the men's singles, Li Yu beat Australian Brehaut Stuart 2-0.Chen Hong and Bao Chunlai will compete on Tuesday.

    In the women's singles, Athens Olympic champion Zhang Ning crushed South Korean Hye Youn Hwang 11-4 and 11-0. Zhu Lin lost toXing Aiying 2-0 from Singapore.

    In the men's doubles, China's No. 1 Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng defeated Tam Lok Tin/Yan Chun Yu of Hong Kong, China, 2-0.

    In the women's doubles, world number one Zhang Jiewen/Yang Weize ousted their rivals from Malaysia 15-3 and 15-0.

    In the mixed doubles, Olympic champion Zhang Jun/Gao Ling encountered severe challenges from Australian rivals in the first set. They fought back from 11-13 to take the set 17-14. In the second set, they sped up the rhythm and won with an easy 15-5 victory. The Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2005, with a total prize money of 250,000 US dollars, has attracted almost all top players throughout the world.
