Who are the Fastest?

i don't think i can figure out who is the fastest male player
but i would say cheng shao chieh is the fastest for the women player
the way she play is quite different to another players i guest..
just my opinion tho...

i agree... cheng shao chieh seems to hav a rather odd style of play... she seems really... casual? in her footwork... and i agree that chong wei seems to be one of the fastest badminton player currently- especially when he is on form.

i remembered watching the match between him and bao during the WC i think and one minute he was smashing at the base and barely a second after that, he was already at the net to tap the defend by bao... super speed man... my mother who was ironing clothes while watching at that time actually asked, "huh? what happened?" and only found out when she watched the replay in slow motion. hahah. watla...

Any of you who have ever seen Shoji Sato play will agree he is definatley the fastest player in the world. However his shots etc are not as good as say Lin Dan, making him not as strong a player.

After watching so many of his games, I noticed something. He jump smashes from the base line, and returns a netshot extremely high almost everytime. I also have almost never seen him dive, usually because he can get to everything fast enough. (there was the odd one or two againest Gade or LD - and they were usually off the smashes)

during china open 2005, gade vs chen hong.. i heard commentaor Zhao JianHua said, player dive because they got poor foot step, if u have good foot step you dont need to dive..

before his knee injury.. gade was the fastest, smooth as silk and fleet of foot - like peter rasmussen, poul erik hoyer larsen and morten frost before him..

taufik - of the current crop is the fastest i think.. and smooth also..

I don't want to follow everyone else, But Lee Chong Wei has to be fastest. He had the best footwork and foot speed I saw at World Champs.

Hi Stuart, how are things down under? Yes, my coach saw all the singles players play and agrees with you. He said hands down LCW is the fastest, then LD.

I don't know if it is because he is short but Shoji Sato seems to be the fastest for me.

LeeYH can also be very fast. I personally think Lin is faster than Than LCW and Taufik is far in speed compared to those 4.

So my list would be:

1- Sato
2- Lin dan
3- LYH
4- LCW
