weird.. i don't know why this came to me today - and all of a sudden i couldn't find an answer.. What is it that motivates taufik to win? He clearly has the talent and the fitness to win a will. the problem is that he doesn't appear to care about being no.1 or how his ranking affects his image, and since he doesn't go out to win all the tournaments i guess he's not short of cash either otherwise he'd play simply for the cash. could it be that taufik simply plays for fun? or is there something else.. anybody have any ideas?
you sounds like he can win all the tournaments if he wanted.... I believe all the players wants to win, but the fact is you can't win it all... the skill level between each top player is not so significant....... sometimes you need a little bit luck too...
It's one of the most wondered question also in the current badminton circle esp. in this forum.. Dan(s4madman) and i, actually have been attempting to find out, attempting to call and speak to Taufik himself, to find out about this also...hehe, j/k.. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=304147#post304147 why he sometimes shows up to play but most times doesn't show up to play.. Seriously though, we don't know why, i wish i knew also. Sometimes he will go all out but most times just step back and cruise and don't put full effort..Who knows..Perhaps, that "feeling of invincibility" or taking things for granted.. just my .02 cents..
OK, when I see Albert tonight, I will seriously ask him to call Sony (Dwi Kuncoro) and have Sony talk to Taufik. Hopefully we'll get some info. Stay tuned.
it'd be great to hear his reasons.. mebbe just to give his fan's som respite, it's like supporting a football team who only care about winning the premiership... and don't care about all the other competitions.. Coops
I guess he needs the challenge and more importantly, the adulation! 1) playing for your country 2) playing for the ultimate prize I'm not really considering Taufik as being serious until the Thomas Cup and World Champs. That's when I think he will really shine. For the WC, if he wins, he would acheive something that has never been done before in worldbadminton...be a double WC winner and an Olympic Champion.
Sometimes if you are way too serious in doing something you like, you might not enjoy the process of doing it, and it makes you frustrated in the end.. Maybe Taufik enjoys playing badminton, and he doesn't want the 'I-have-to-win-every- tournament' feeling and not winning it in the end gradually makes him lose interest. And once in a while when there's this big tournament like the WC or OG, and he wants to prove to himself that he can win it, and to his countrymen that they have someone they can be proud of, he'll put his heart into it and gun for it. Or probably he doesn't feel the need to constantly prove to people anything. As long as he's satisfied with what he gets.
hahahaha, no, Dan is not in HK...hehehehehe.. he has a connection here in L.A., who can contaq Sony thru sms.. I'm sure he wished he was in HK right now and can actually talk to Taufik..
Some worrying news guys, i sms Flandy for dinner tonite and told him to ring taufik as well but apparently Taufik went back to jkt to get his leg checked out, it was hurting after his game with WCH. Looks like no China open this year.
No Sir, I wish. I'm in SoCal and plan to be here for a while...unless I make a trip up to The Great White North to bug Cooler and PeteLSD.
Bud, you are welcomed to drop by anytime! Better hook up with Kwun or LB when you decide to come up. Need to try your spicy beef noodle!
I spoke with Albert yesterday night and asked him about Taufik. He smiled and said there really was no need to call Sony to ask him why because he knew the answer and the answer is: The two most important events are the Olympics and WCs. Taufik tries his best to be up and ready for those two events; he tries to be in peak condition. The other tournaments, they are less important to Taufik. It's hard to maintain the peak focus and conditioning. So yes, some times Taufik takes it easy, and as a result gets beat. Taufik never said he let anyone, he simply just doesn't go "full throttle" (as one of my friends says) because again, it's so hard to maintain that state-of-being. Other times, it's true, Taufik is injured but he tries to hide it because he doesn't want to use it as an excuse. When Taufik wins, he wins, when he loses he loses. That is all. Lastly and most important, Taufik doesn't want the public/fans guessing or wondering why Taufik can't win every tournament he plays and why he's more selective about the tournament he plays (plays less tournaments than his peers). He just does what he does and whatever the results are, those are the results. Again, that is all. So we don't need to debate anymore on this and wonder why.
hey guys ,i am really worried about taufik not coming to china open , and about his injury. is that his old problem? i guess i am not going to guangzhou if he is not coming
