Well what can i say, after the weekends expedition at th AE i am convinced that he (for me anyway) is the greatest doubles and Mixed Doubles player at this moment in time. Superb composure and fantastic defence, unshakable mental toughness. btw does anyone know what the tension was between the Indonesians and the Koreans in the Semi's, even Gill Clarke (the commentator) picked up on it.

It was a truly remarkable Semi, cost me £24 to have sky sports 3 opened, but it was worth every penny, asi managed to tape over 10 hours footage.

In my opinion Kim is superior to Tony Gunawan (too tired to give reasons, just take my word for it...lol)

    Cheers.

I agree he is the man.

I went to watch the finals and he is just soooooooooo awesome.

You may think he is better the Tony Gunawan, but can you imagine them teaming up! wow. Scary.

    ;-)

I remember that Simon Archer said this 4-5 years ago when Ricky and Raxy in play.

Hi... Although I think he is a good player but i feel that it is a pity he can't seem to find a good doubles partner to match his type of play....

If he finds the right combination... I'm sure he'll give Candra and Sigit a run for the medals.

They already did, whoooaa some game tho wasnt it, chandra/sigit seemed big favourites but kim was playin amazingly

But i felt that Sigit was showboating far far too much, too many round the back shots when he coulda hit the shot on his backhand...

But all in all what a game

UK coverage has been awesome for the all england, showed 5 hrs quarter finals, semi and finals

Hope this carries on with the rest of the major tournaments

    :)

I wouldn't say that Ha Tae Kwon is a hindrance to Kim's style of play, they seem to have everything sussed, Ha predominately stays at the back and produces BIG smashes and Kim does the rest from the net area. In fact in all the matches i've seen them play together i have never seen them both go for the same shot or get caught out by shots down the middle. All in all very much confident in their own abilities and each others, just take the 2000 AE Final when they were playing their team-mates, they saved 3 match points to produce the win in the end.

All in all it was excellent for badminton, good coverage and top class badminton.

I think Nick Ponting could do with a bowl of cornflakes to wake him up though, b4 he goes on sky sports 3 to present, i think we needed you Kwun or Cheung to do the studio commentating some more justice, just felt it was a bit of a drag, mind you the presenter wasn't half asking difficult questions so i suppose Nick and Julie Bradury done well consiering it was maybe their first time.

Anyway i hope that badminton grows from here onwards.

I agree, Kim & Ha make a good team. No tension, lots of cooperation, and very relaxed.

    Commentating

How about Kwun and Cheung as a team? :)

Actually, I think commentating is a bloody difficult job. If Nick Ponting and Julie Bradbury had a problem, well there could be a number of factors, not just on personality.

The cantonese commentators are quite technical in explanation. Perhaps it's a refelction of previous training in badminton itself. There's a heavy influence from China which English commentators haven't had in their past training.
And badminton is exceptionally fast - try analysing a rally and saying it out before the rally starts.
The guy who used to StarTV a few years ago, I think it was Anthony Bush, was pretty good.

    Hi,

if you managed to copy some AE matches from TV, is there any possibility to make a copy and send it to my address in Germany?
    It would be great!

    Thanks
    Mathias

Quote " At the moment". I absolutely agree. How long I wonder before comparisons with Park Joo Bong start in terms of long term greatness.

    Hi Mag, hi everybody,
sorry, was just to lazy to write in english - no german conspiracy, I promise. ;)
I just wrote, that unfortunately I don't have the 2002 AE taped,
but 40 other badminton tapes (Yves Lacroix is a very rich man now).
And that he can contact me, if he would like to swap.

I have the AE 2002 (and a few other things from Danish TV), and I might be interested in swapping a few tapes... I haven't actually received the AE2002 tape yet but quality is usually very good.

    Interested?

I love the subject line, by the way... ;)

    translation programs are just great

    Hey Mag,
I was inspired by your subject line (was my first laugh on a rotten day, thanx).
I would definitely like to swap tapes. Are you looking for something special..., errr, I mean special badminton matches? I don't have a complete list of my stuff. I just ordered every match, which seemed interesting to me (lots of Peter Gade, all Rasmussen matches available, Jinhua, lots of close 3-setters singles/doubles).
