The draws for the team events are as follows.

    Mens Team Tie

    1st Half

    Malaysia

    Thailand Vs Philippines

    2nd Half

    Vietnam Vs Singapore

    Indonesia

My forecast will be Team Thailand will face Malaysia in the Semis. Which i think will be the very exciting.
Indonesia Vs Singapore for the semis.

Most likely Malaysia Vs Indonesia for the Finals.

    Womens Team Tie

    1st Half

    Thailand

    Malaysia Vs Vietnam

    2nd Half

    Philippines vs Indonesia

    Singapore

For the 1st half most likely Malaysia Vs Thailand which i think Team Malaysia will have the upperhand.

2nd Half is easy to predict which team Indonesia Vs Singapore. Singapore have strong female players.

My prediction is Malaysia Vs Singapore for the Womens Team event. This will be a neck to neck battle.

    Individual Event

    Men's Singles

    1st Half

    Lee Chong Wei MAS

Lee Yen Hui Kendrick SIN vs Nguyen Tien Minh VIE

    Boonsak Ponsana THA

Simon Santoso INA vs Wally Fernandez PHI

    2nd Half

Nguyen Quang Minh VIE vs Ronald Susilo SIN

    Sony Dwi Kuncoro INA

Poompat Sapkulchananart THA vs Kennevic Asuncion PHI

    Mohd Hafiz Hashim MAS

    1st half predictions

For the 1st half lineups, Kendrick will have the upperhand against Nguyen Tien Minh, however the Vietnamese is fast and he has improved alot. Kendrick must no underestimate this guy if he want to win.
Most likely the Singaporean will have LCW in the QuarterFinal

Boonsak Ponsana will definately have a match with Simon Santoso in the quarters unless Simon make silly errors against the unherald Wally of the Phils.
Boonsak vs Simon in the quarters.

In my opinion LCW wil advance to the finals for sure , unless something happens.

    2nd half predictions

Ronald Susilo will definately plays against Sony in the quarter finals.
With the crowd behind him, i think Kennevic will face Hafiz Hashim in the QFs.
2nd half draws is much harder. With power players like Sony , Hafiz and Ronald , it is mind breaking in predicting who willl conquer the 2nd half.

It will be either Sony vs Hafiz in the Semis. We will see who have the upperhand in this match if it comes true.

Finals will be either SONY or HAFIZ vs LCW

I'm suprised that Taufik is not included in the individual event. Most likely he will be playing in the team event.

    1st Half

    Salakjit Ponsana THA

Lee Ngoc Nguyen Nhung VIE vs M.Sutheaswari MAS

    Xing Aiying

Adriyanti Firdasari INA vs Irene Chiu PHI

    2nd Half

Paula Obanana PHI vs Nguyen Thi Binh Tao VIE

    Wong Mew Choo

Fransisca Ratnasari INA vs Mothila Meemek THA

    LiLi SIN

    1st Half prediction

To keep things short Salakjit will have M.Sutheswari in the QF with Xing Aiying Vs Adriyanti Firdasari as well. My prediction is that Xing Aiying will advance to the Finals with Adriyanti Firdasari the dark horse of this 1st half.

    2nd Half Prediction

Wong Mew Choo vs LILI in the semis.

I hope Wong Mew Choo will advance to the finals.

    Men's Doubles

    1st Half

    Luluk/Alven INA

    Nguyen Hoang Hai/Quang Phong VIE

    Sudket Prapakamol/Photapol Ngensrisuk THA

Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah MAS vs Ian Piencenaves/Arolas Amahit PHI

    2nd Half

Koo Kian Teck/Alvin Fu SIN vs Jamie Junio/Mark Alvin PHI

    Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan INA

Tan Thanh Hai/Quang Minh VIE vs Songphol/Nitipong THA

Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat MAS

    1st half prediction

Luluk/Alven will most likely be in the semis. Match to watch will be between the Thais vs Lee Wan Wah/CT Fook. Personally LWW/CTF will face Luluk/Alven in the semis which i believe the Phil crowd will witness a hard and exciting match in their lives at the moment LIVE! INA 60% chance of winning the top half.

    2nd Half Prediction

I think the other players have to match against Markis Kido/Hendra. Bottom half will be exciting as Malaysia KKK/CCM will have the Thais in the QF. The Malaysian seems to have the upperhand and i hope they will not dissapoint me again. But the Thai pair might come up with an upset over the Msians. KKK/CCM vs Markis Kido/Hendra for the Semis.

Finals will be KKK/CCM vs whoever wins in the top half that i predicted.

    Mixed Doubles

    1st Half

    Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir

Kennevic/Kennie PHI vs Songphil Anukkritiyawon/Kunchala Voravichitchaikul THA

    Hendry Kurniawan/Li Yujia SIN

Nguyen Hoang Hai/Le Thi Thanh Thuy THA vs Wong Choon Hann/Ooi Sock Ai MAS

    2nd Half

Mohd Azlin/Vanessa Neo SIN vs Tran Tranh Hai/Tran Thi Thanh Thuy VIE

Koo Kien Keat/Wong Pei Tty MAS

Anggun Nughoro/Yunita Tetty INA vs Ian Piencenaves/Paula Obanana PHI

    Sudket/Saralee THA

    1st Half predictions

With a strong crowd backing the Phil pair will have to face a tough challenge from WC Champions Nova and Lilyana. Wong Choon Han and partner will most face the Singaporean pair in the QF. But the new Msian pairing is going strong. This will be another match to watch.

Widianto/Natsir will surely advance to the finals.

    2nd half Predictions

It will be KKK and partner vs Sudket/Saralee in the Semis.

Finals will be ruled by my 2 favourite pair of Sudket/Saralee vs Widianto/Natsir.

Malaysian Pairs will be the dark horse in this event. And i hope the Phils pair will play their best game. The crowd is going to be wild when they watch their own pair vs the #1 Indonesian pairing.

Don't you think Novita/Polii have a greater chance of reaching the semis?

Novita/Polii will definately win over the Phil teams. It will be a hard match between them and the Malaysians. Well that is my prediction. I do hope they will advance to the Semis.

For the men's team, if it isn't Indonesia v Malaysia in the final, I'll eat my socks.

Thailand will have few problems over Phillippines, but their 2nd and 3rd singles, and 2nd doubles, will be their downfall against Malaysia, notwithstanding that Malaysia has some fighting chance in the top singles and doubles matches as well.

In the bottom half, the question is can Singapore overcome Vietnam? With Ronald and Kendrick around, I'll put my money on Singapore. But if Ronald is out, or lack fitness, then Singapore is in dire straits. Anyway, whoever goes through will get rolled over by Indonesia.

For the women's team, if it isn't Malaysia v Indonesia, I won't eat my socks.

Malaysia (should be knocking out Vietnam with little fuss) v Thailand is interesting. The winning edge of the Malaysians could be in the much- improved singles department. While it is possible for Thailand to win both doubles, it is also possible for Malaysia to win all 3 singles. But all the matches are close calls. The only match where there is a higher degree of confidence is Wong Mew Choo beating Salakjit for the first point. The slight favourites will be Malaysia.

Indonesia will similarly knock out the host with little fuss. Against Singapore, I will tend to install Indonesia as the favourites. This isn't the case a year ago, but how things have changed. Indonesia have the players to take on the likes of Li Li and Xing Aiying now. And they also have enough depth to be favourites in the 3rd singles. I'll put Indonesia 2-1 ahead in singles. In doubles, Novita/Polii is also a big threat to Jiang/Li. It could be 50-50. And for the 2nd doubles, Indonesia can go for Nurlita/Poluakan or they can opt for some oddball partnership with Lilyana Natsir. No matter what, Indonesia is the favourites for the 2nd double. Singapore needs their China connection, Li Li, Xing and Jiang/Li to all win.

    Here's my predictions:

Starting with the Men's Team Event:

No question abt this....Malaysia vs Indonesia in the Final. It will be as usual, lots of fireworks and tough battles for each point.
MS1: Taufik Hidayat vs Lee Chongwei (depends on which Taufik turns up as usual...but he has the edge)
MD1: Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto vs Chan Choong Ming/Koo Kien Keat (again, tough battle with the Indos having a slight advantage)
MS2: Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Muhd Hafiz Hashim (50-50 chance...with both players still not in top form due to injuries...depending on the luck and form during the day)
MD2: Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan vs Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah (yet again, tough to predict)
MS3: Simon Santoso vs Wong Choong Hann (this is a point that Malaysia die die also must grab as Simon is definitely inferior to Wong).

If scores are 2-2 before the final match, Malaysia will win 3-2.
If not, Indonesia will win, with points probably from Taufik, Sony and any of the doubles.

I concur with your analysis. The way I see it, everything is 50-50 except for MS1 (Taufik) and MS3 (WCH). Malaysia field their very best, but Indonesia could have fielded better MD players. Personally, I would have Candra/Sigit as MD1 and Kido/Setiawan as MD2. Then, Indonesia will have a 2-1 edge with MS2 and MD2 going 50-50.

    Women Team Event:
    Singapore vs Indonesia

WS1: Li Li vs Firdasari Adrianti (Li Li has the edge, but Firda is definitely improving)
WD1: Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia vs Jo Novita/Greysia Polii (the Indo pair is having a good fortnight while the Singaporean pair is not competing in any of the tournaments lately -- 50/50 but I pick the Indo pair to win)
WS2: Xing Aiying vs Fransisca Ratnasari (again, Xing has the edge)
WD2: Frances Liu/Shinta Mulya Sari vs Lita Nurlita/Nathalia Poluakan (this is a match that Indonesia MUST WIN!)
WS3: I am not sure who Singapore will field...but Maria Kristin will definitely be a favorite...so, another point that Indonesia MUST WIN!)

From the analysis, if Singapore is to win the match, they MUST take the first 3 points. If Indonesia steals a pt (probably from the double match), then, I think Indonesia can prevail, 3-2.

Yes, even if Ronald is able to play, he lacks match fitness and practice and is unlikely to score a point.

If Ronald is unable to play, Singapore could well lose to Vietnam!

Only our girls have a chance to shine! :(

And I think Malaysia has a good chance to snatch the Men's Team title from Indonesia, unless the real Taufik delivers.

It's going to be a close match, no doubt. Would have liked to see Candra/Sigit there, if they were 1st doubles, then I would have said advantage to Indonesia. But as it stands, it will be touch and go ...

The PBSI (Indonesia badminton organization) once again break their own rules. 2 years ago they only sent young players to compete in Sea Games to gain experience. Butnow in order to grab as many gold as possible, they include Taufik in team event and Nova/Lilyana in XD.

It will of course backfire if Indonesia men team and Nova/Lily can't rab the gold medals.

I am hoping that PBSI give more trust to younger players and toughen their mentality. But my wish don't come true.
