Just curious, why they don't invite all players ranked 1 to 8 like Tennis Masters Cup? Even they don't invite #1 (LD)
Well..if Taufik doesn't go ....I think the title's for LCW He has very good record against all these players..... except Kenneth...but since Kenneth's not on really good form lately.. Peter and Bao has never beaten LCW...and WCH has lost in all their recent encounters... GO LCW!!!
Tennis Masters Cup is like the year-end finals. You work all year round to qualify for that. Copenhagen Masters is not. It does not even provide ranking points.
This same discussion comes up every year. My tip is this: do a search, if you want to know more about how the organizers of Copenhagen Masters think.
Yup, something like that. They try to invite the best players in the world, last year e.g. Lin Dan and XXF won... This year, I think many of the best Chinese players choose to attend World Cup instead of CPH Masters (and HK/China Open instead of Denmark Open), which is quite a dissapointment for the Danish fans.
Er... I dont think Lin Dan and XXF won last year's Copahagen Masters...because they didnt go. In fact, I dont think Lin dan has ever played the event. I tihnk Peter Gade won Copa. Masters in 2004

The line-up for the 2005 Copenhagen Masters has been announced. A very respectable line-up, in my opinion. (Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be able to go this year...) MS, group 1 BAO Chunlai, China Kenneth JONASSEN, Denmark WONG Choong Hann, Malaysia MS, group 2 Peter GADE, Denmark Muhammed Hafiz HASHIM, Malaysia Eric PANG, Holland MD, group 1: Jens ERIKSEN/Martin LUNDGAARD, Denmark Bin Shen TAN/Soon Hock ONG, Malaysia Tony GUNAWAN/Howard BACH, USA MD, group 2: FU Haifeng/CAI Yun, Kina Mathias BOE/Carsten MOGENSEN, Denmark ALVEN Yulianto/FLANDY Limpele, Indonesien MX, group 1: Nathan ROBERTSON/Gail EMMS, England Lars PAASKE/Mette SCHOLDAGER, Denmark MX, group 2 XIE Zhongbo/ZHANG Yawen, China Thomas LAYBOURN/Kamilla JUHL, Denmark
Why the Change In Partners? I just wonder why Jens Eriksen is not partnering with Mette Scholdager. Didn't she withdraw during Sudirman Cup 2005? I think they're ranked something like the top 3 in the world as a pair... And is Lars much of a mixed player. I have respect for him in MD, but I have not seen him play mixed before. I've seen Carsten Mogensen play, I saw JR play mixed before they decided to concentrate him in MD, where he has been very successful. But Jens and Mette together have always been such a force to be reckoned with... Yannie, or anyone know why they put Lars with Mette? Cory
Yes, cuz they only let Jens play MD... and Lars' usual partner Helle, has shoulder injuries. So now its interesting too watch Lars & Mette
Hi Yannie, Yes I'm very excited to see their outcome. I understand Lars is coming along in mixed doubles play...is that correct? But who decided Jens is to only play in MD? Is it a tournament rule that you can only play in one event? Or was it a national team or coach decision? Or is Jens being moved to exclusively MD like JR was? Hope you don't mind all the questions... Cory
Hi Cory, I'm sorry, I don't know who decided that Jens only can play MD, but I guess it's the tournament rule! If you've got any questions, just ask, but I'm not sure if I can answer them all hehe
Keep in mind that this is the Copenhagen Masters. It's "for fun" (or some money), not for ranking points. It could well be that Jens just decided to take it easy this year. It's between X-mas and New Year, after all -- time that most people like to spend with their families. If they were really looking to evaluate new pairings, they wouldn't choose the Copenhagen Masters. Performance there just isn't good enough an indicator.
