In terms of consistency, I nominate 4 players/pairs:
    1. Zhang Ning -- world no 1, with 6 titles and finalists in 3 other tournaments (German Open, All England and World Championships -- losing to Xie Xingfang in these 3)

    2. Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen -- world no 1, Olympic and World Champion, with 5 titles

    3. Candra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto -- world no 1 with 4 titles and 4 runner-ups (including World Championships)

    4. Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms -- world no 3, reigning All England Champion with 3 titles and 2 runner-ups.

Default "Eddy Choong Player of the Year"

Officially it's called the "Eddy Choong Player of the Year" award...and last year's recipient was none other than...............Taufik Hidayat..

    http://www.worldbadminton.net/Portal...10&ItemID=1685

Will he repeat again this year??....we shall wait and see for the announcement sometimes next January..

But there has been instance(s) where more than 1 player shared the award...hmm, i know it involved Kim Dong Moon...akh, forgot which year..anyone knows or know a link to the history of this individual-based award??..

    - Women I think would be Zhang Ning again.

    - Men : Candra Wijaya & Sigit Budiarto or Lin Dan

knowing IBF's track record, they will probably award it to Tony and Howard for their one time achievement in the WC.

I concur with Kwun on this issue !!! It will just add to their recent achievement of winning 05 LA Greatest Sports Moment of the year for the Olympic sports division. Hope they will get chosen .....

Cool The award goes to ...

I think Lin Dan should be the one to win as he won most of the IBF tournaments. We are not picking popular player rather achievement award so who won more titles than Lin Dan in 2005? Only Zhang Ning, Xie Xingfang, Yang/Zhang can come close. Come to think of it, I think Yang/Zhang(WD) won more titles than Lin Dan if I am not mixtaken?
Just my opinion and I don't have law degree

And yes, as I stated before, I agree, LD should be Player of the Year and I bet he'll win it.
