like are there any patterns that i have to follow during a game, so taht i get less exhausted. In a game, even though my body's not tired and i haven't run that much, i have a trouble breathing because i don't know when i should breathe in or out or etc. like for example ,is there like a special respiration pattern anyone know about when playing badminton (i'm talking about singles by the way) for ex. do i have to breathe out right after i hit teh bird, or breathe in when i got back to the base, etc. ) Does anyone have any patterns so i can ease my breathing when i'm playing?
Your body knows how to breathe optimally. Don't worry about it and let it breathe naturally. With respect to hitting the bird, yes, you breathe out, that's why many top pros scream or yell when they smash. It's easier to breathe out that way. You probably need to do more aerobic exercises. You should try to run more and do breath intensive exercises such as run shadows, run steps, jump rope. Your body will naturally build its own rhythm for breathing and you won't have to worry about it.
One more thing, when stationary, if you are still worried or conscious about your breathing, it's usually better to slow down then speed up because if you breathe too fast, too much air gets into your brain and you can become light headed. When you are stationary, if you find yourself breathing too fast, slowly take a deep breath, hold it for two seconds and slowly breath out. Slowly breathing in and out takes about 2 seconds each. So a whole cycle of breathing in, holding and breathing out should take around 6-8 seconds. Of course when you are in the middle of a point or doing intensive aerobic exercising, don't try to control your breath, just let your body do it.
