I wouldn't say that the shooter has no pressure and it certainly isn't easy. In fact it is more possible that the goalie saves, the odds is on his side. However I must say it is fun to see that such a trick works at the highest level, exactly the same every teenager (or even younger) use to learn after training but never have the guts to do in a real match. /mats
Oh yes, I remember that one. It was actually the gamewinning shootout goal in the longest NHL shootout ever (so far). Malik is a defenceman, and was something like the 13th shooter, so he was not exactly expected to be pulling out crazy moves like that. Oh well, worked for him!
That shot is in theory not a legal shot. In shutout, the puck always have to be pushed forwared while this one has been pushed back. The goal somehow been judged good and very spectacular one indeed

Great clips, The Malik goal was cute. Decades ago I had a friend who would do that all the time. He was like Taufik.....gifted and lazy. Lots of between-the-legs and one-arm-reaching dekes and such. Anyhow, as a goalie it didn't take long for me to get used to these tricks...but it was always a pleasure to watch him do it to new chumps. The missed open net certainly has joined the pantheon of "Who's the Goat" bonehead plays....Edmonton had one of it's own doozies back in the 80's with an own goal vs Calgary...what year was that? (am I showing my age?)

Lin Dan's sprawling defense has nothing on the desperate invigorating sprawling of a goalie "under pressure" (to borrow the badminton phrase). What is the feeling of BC members on the upcoming Stanley Cup? I am not following closely, but it's always good when the Cup will stay north of the Mason-Dixie line.
i dont follow hockey anymore either. All the best players are bought up by the US clubs, so by logic, they will alway win I didi remembered it was the original classic Oilier steve smith, the goalie grant fuhr and the calgary flames.
