Hey, I got my role specific volunteer for the Melbourne 2006 commonwealth games. Anyone got an idea where I can stay? I got badminton too so yea :D.

Any suggestions for places to stay? Please not dodgy places where druggies and stuff hang around.

Maybe it's still a long, long way to Melbourne, timewise? :D

Let us know if you could get something decent and inexpensive. Maybe we could join you play baddy! :)

What's your budget like Loh? lol. If Bfers could make the trip down it'd be wicked cool.

    Btw, my volunteer role.

    Role Description: Spotter - BDM

As a Spotter, you will need a strong background in the sport and be able to identify athletes, assist with pronunciations, recognise changes to fields, understand the significance of sporting achievements and spot points of interest. You will report to and take direction from the Presentation Manager.

Quite a tidy job you've had on hand! I suppose your next stop would be the Presenter himself. ;)

What would you think is a reasonable budget say for a week's 'budget' stay in Aussie Dollars? :D

The one thing I don't understand is the part about...

    "recognise changes to fields"

    Cheers?

Accommodation would be at a premium during the Commonwealth Games. As Loh mentioned, the games being a few months away, it’s almost impossible to know the price for next year. It’s a case of supply and demand.

Since you are a volunteer, can't you get any assistance from Badminton Victoria?

Always hopeful, wherever and whenever badminton is competed. :D A chance to revisit the State and be overwhelmed by its latest developments and surprises. I can never forget the Penguin Parade.

An opportunity became available at the recent SEA Games and I found myself in Manila at the eleventh hour! Many thanks to our fellow baddy fanatic Ants!

    So you can never tell.

    Mabuhay! ;)

    Just gonna update.

I've got my flight there booked already. Going there on the 9th of march and I'm coming back to Perth on the 28th of march.

I got clarified on the type of job I've been assigned to. Something like in the media room spotting players and writing write ups for the commentators :p.

Now if only I can get my accomodation....

Try the Claremont Hotel at South Yarra. You could catch a tram to the Badminton venue and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs around.
