Anyone ever heard of Wei Wei Shuttles? I picked up a tube yesterday from a coach. It's definitely a tourney quality shuttle, hits/feels heavier. I haven't had a chance to play any games with it yet, will do so tonight... Anyone have any additional info/comments?
Not sold yet, only through one connection here so far. I'm going to hit it more and then good and consistent, probably bring some in.
well, as I have experienced so far, all clone shuttles are somewhat bad in quality. When you open it up, you sometimes see certain brands put lead cubes or screws inside the cork. Many shuttle manufacturers are doing this nowadays in order to save cost. So, when you have time, open some up and see if it is like that. Not to mention Victor is doing it as well. It's been widely discussed in Asia that Victor has lowered their grade significantly. In the mean time, I will just stick with AS40/50, as they are my favorite shuttles
For the record, there is no proof (at least not to my knowledge) that Wei-Wei Shuttles are clones. I'm examing an AS-50 and Wei-Wei right now and the Wei-Wei has a bit thicker and more robust stems. The feathers are comparable. In terms of performance, we all know (at least we should know) the AS-50 and Yonex Tournament shuttles are the standard in terms of flight. I didn't go hit the Wei-Wei today, will do so tomorrow and report back. My initial report is the Wei-Wei flies very well but not quite as good as the AS-50.
Hmmmm, interesting and not good. I use the Victor Champion # 3 and Victor Blue. I'll have to check them out...
The definition of clones is something that looks identical from the outside but the company's name is different. For example, winex and apacs, are companies that are known for making clones. They both have rackets that look the same as AT-700, but the brand is printed differently. This is the same thing and same situation with shuttles above. The packaging and letters are the same as regular AS10/20/30/40/50 tubes. In fact, I should say everything looks the same except the brand. Notice that, when customers buy shuttles, they can only see the tube, not the shuttles directly. Thus, this is a clone.
Whoops, my bad, you are absolutely correct. For some reason I was thinking copy cat or replica, not clone. I guess I need more sleep and less Badminton.
Yes, I played with 5 more Wei Wei shuttles. They are excellent, very durable and fly true. The speed is good, everything is good about the shuttle. It's comparable to the Yang Yang 300B and Yonex AS-50. I let one of my friends (who sells badminton equipment) try one and he said it lasted him one whole game of XD. He was very impressed with the shuttle. In one game of doubles, we went through 6 shuttles. In the second game, we used the Wei Wei and we only used 2 shuttles. The 2nd shuttle was fine and I used it for a subsequent game. I'm going to buy some more...
Nice review... Mind me to hook me up for some possible bulk orders (if the price is right ) speed 77 is ideal for me.
Three tubes of speed 78 and three tubes of speed 79 . Note: speed 78 (17 C - 23 C) and speed 79 (12 C - 18 C)
Clarification: the 6 shuttles we went through in Game 1 were: 2 RSL Ace, 2 King 707 2 MMOA Selects In Game 2: 2 Wei Wei and the 2nd Wei shuttle was still fine afterwards.
No, you are in New York. I'm a Red Sox and Patriots fan. Just kidding of course, how many tubes you wanna test?
