Turning your waist?

    My friend told me to get a better smash I should turn my waist what does he mean by that can somebody help me?

    Is there some videos of a standing smash?

    Probably s/he meant that you should twist your body sideways. Hmm..the best way to describe it is:

    take up a sideways throwing stance like you are getting ready to pitch in baseball.

    Body rotation, not pronation.

    The throwing action is more like an outfielder than a pitcher. The body is postioned side on to the intended direction of the smash. For the body rotation, the hips (& waist) start turning first followed by the (upper) torso. The arm swing starts AFTER the shoulders (torso) start their rotation.
