Note: some grips are a review in-process. Any rating left blank means I have not completed that evaluation yet. I will update this table periodically and the ratings can and may change. How I review: from a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being highest, 5 being average. Since just about everyone has used the standard Yonex SuperGrap, I used that as my benchmark grip.
u gave prince duratrend a 1 for grip durability. isnt this too low? the initial,5 min and wet grip ratings is pretty good under tackiness.
nice test, but i'm very surprised to see the karakal grips left out, which are reportedly the best in the world. http://www.karakal.com/products/grips.html Also it might be fun to include some towel grips?
I keep hearing that karakal grips are supposed to be great, but they're kinda hard to actually find... I haven't been able to find any brick and morter stores that carry them in the SF Bay Area. I've only found 1 online store that carries them, and they only carry 2 varities... anyone know of any domestic North American Karakal vendors? As for the review, I agree with the overall findings... Wilson's Xtra X-tac is a great grip.
Why is XXX grip not inside? If he were to wait until he tried out every different grip in existence before publishing the review, we would probably have to wait a long time for this review to come out Having said that... how about trying Prince Microzorb (Duratec is not available in Asia). Pacific grips are quite common in Asia as well.
Sorry for the silly question, but is the name "Wilson Xtra X-Tac" correct? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I found a "Wilson X-Tra Tack." Is that one and the same?
No problem. I can't seem to find Wilson Xtac either. I found a Pacific Xtac overgrip. Is that it? Thanks.
Dang! So many errors, sorry. That's supposed to be Wilson Pro Overgrip. I'm updating now and will reload in 10 minutes with the corrections and one addition, "Tactic Overgrip".
Great table . Thanks for the hard work put in it. I hope you can put your hands on some Kimony and Gosen grips which truly are good. I was very disapointed by all my Wilson grip experiments as well as Gamma. I can't recall the models unfortunately but next time I grab some I will be more cautious on the specific models.
Wonder what's your range for "medium" or "thin" in the "thickness" category? Mind to provide some numbers? Personally, I find Yonex Supergrap is pretty "thin", as it's only 0.6mm.
Sir, again, everything is relative. The other grips that are "medium" will be comparable in thickness while the "thin" ones will be thinner. As for a numeric designation, I'm not certain.
Do you mean prince "duratred" instead of "duratrend"?? By the way...big thanks for putting up this table. I'm going to look into trying some of the other overgrips thanks to your recommendations.
although your ratings are relative and your own personal preference, I have a hard time understanding a 7.25 overall rating for RSL overgrip when compared to a 6.5 overall for the Prince Duratred. Why? a) 3 ratings of 7 and 3 ratings of 8 for the Prince b) 5 ratings of 7 and 1 rating of 8 (on initial feel too!) for the RSL. at least give it a 7 :crying:! as you can tell...i like the prince duratred grip.
