    Hello guys,
I thought it would be interesting to rank the top ten players who I felt have acomplished the most this year. We all know that the ranking system (although good) is not reflective of how good the players have been this year. Here are my top ten men singles. Tell me what you think.

    Men singles

    1. Lin Dan ( actual world ranking 1)
Undisputed world no. 1 in my books. Winner in China Master, HK , Japan and Germany. Runner up in the two most important tourney of the year (All England and Worlds ). Although not as prolific and consistent as last year, he is by far still the most consistent player in the circuit.

    2. Taufik ( 8)
Probably the best player in the world. Not consistent though and definitely not playing enough. His motivation for smaller tournaments are not as good. Still he is the world champ and in Singapore.

    3. Chen Hong (4)
Very underrated. Not many fans of his in this board , I think. Not as talented as some of the top players but you can't argue with his achievements this year. Reigning All England champ and China open champ plus numerous other runner ups in six stars tourny (singapore. japan , indonesia)

    4. Lee Chong Wei (3)
Dare I say, slightly overrated (no offence to anyone !) Still, very difficult to beat at home. Despite winning in Denmark (weak field), he has still not proven himself in major foreign tournaments.

    5. Bao Chunlai (2)
Deserve more for his talent. Consistently featuring in the later stages of tournaments but lack that mental strength to go one further. Runner up in China (twice) and Hongkong plus many other semi and quarterfinal appearances. Not been beaten befoe QF stages for more than a year !

    6. Lee Hyun Il (6)
Super comeback this year. Overcame difficult draws for being a lower ranked player and still end up with titles in Taiwan and Indonesia. Would have more titles I feel if he started off this year with a better ranking.

    7. Peter Gade ( 5)
Would like him to win more, but sadly no longer as good as he was many years ago. Still a major threat in all the big tourneys. Lin Dan seems to be his big obstacle recently. Winner in Korea and runner up in Switzerland.

    8. Hafiz Hashim (9)
Has the potential to be a top 3 player. Not consistent enough and I get the feeling that he does not try very hard. Winner in Holland, Thailand and Switzerland, RU in Denmark.

    9. Sony Dwi Kuncuro (14)
Three times asian champion. Twice sea games champion. Unrivalled achievements in regional competitions. Can he translate that to big foreign tournaments ?

    10. Kenneth Jonassen (7)
Remarkable player for his age. I hope he will continue for many more years and inspire younger European players to take up the game. Had a better year last year though.

Very underrated? Not as talented? CH's skills are as good as anyone's. It's true that CH is somewhat underrated, Lin Dan gets most of the press but by no means is CH very underrated. And there are many CH fans here, they are just not as vocal. :p

    CH is oLD sK00L. :D

He's really really quite amazing when he's at the top of his game, however, he's really quite inconsistent much of the time, returning easy shots out, or the like. He's almost a contradiction (beating #1 Lin Dan but then losing to Chen Jin in the German Open? Not to say that Chen Jin isn't good, but really....)

chen hong is definately talented. but from my eyes. there is something he doesn't really has. we can find that little thing form lin dan, taufik or peter gade but not from him. that's "charisma".

Yeah, CH is all business. When I met him at the WCs, he was cordial but didn't say much. You could see his intensity, his desire to focus on the tourney. Since he didn't say much, I didn't say much either but there was no uncomfortable feeling. Just peace and quiet. :D
