I had an elbow injury in February 2005 and as a result, I cannot completely straighten my arm. I am new to badminton(2 weeks) and although I am progressing very fast, I was wondering if the injury would hinder me in a very large way as I progress.

    Injury information:
My ligament was nearly torn. It has healed and I have lost ~6 degress off of my elbow. I am still a young being high school student so I might be able to recover a degree or two. Doctor says I have one more year to try to recover a little more.

The direction in which i have lost 6 degrees is the straight extension with the palm facing the left wall or whatever is there. I am right handed and my right arm is the one injured.

    Thanks for the help.

I believe it will hinder your game, but perhaps not so much as you think.

For maximum power, the arm should NOT be straight. A smash with a slightly bent arm will be more powerful.

So I think that the disadvantage will be small :)
