I've been playing badminton for over the pass 2 to 3 years.I play mostly doubles but am thinking of playing singles and have been playing more singles recently.I'm currently using a Ti-7 Light.I think I'm a rather all-round player. However my smashes aren't that strong and I'm training on it.I'm looking at the MP88, MP99 and AT500.Any comments? Also I'm located in Sg so can ppl recommend places to get rackets.bras basah complex for sure but can I know the shops name?how about queensway?
If you really wanted a new racquet, from those choices, I'd suggest the MP99, because it's even-balance. (I assume the Ti-racquet is Head light, by the 'light' in it's name), going from head-light to head-heavy is a Big change. You might want to consider another head-light racquet since that's what you're probably used to. however, I'd suggest experimenting with strings, if you're struggling with power, it's Possibly because of a too-low string tension. I find, personally, that with a string tension of most factory strung racquets or racquets used for a while to be around 18lbs, I can't get a good smash from them, but at 22lbs, there is a huge difference. There's risk involved due to the fact you might not like it @ 22lbs, but, that's just my opinion, let's see what other people think, who are most likely more experienced than myself, to be fair.
last time i used a Ti-7L, i felt it was close enough to head heavy, but that could be possibly due to the grip choice of my friend. however, i think both the AT500 and MP88 would be superb choices to compliment the Ti-7, both performance wise, and looks (depending on which color of Ti-7 you currently own, as the MP88 comes in both red or blue too! ) both the AT500 and MP88 come out to be slightly head-heavy as well, thought some might feel the MP88 is also a relatively balanced racquet. i think the flex balance and weight of both should be suitable for doubles and singles. but obviously you knew these, since you probably picked them with those in mind in the first place.
If you like your Ti-7, I say get another one. Try to stick with the same racket to be consistent. At least that's what they tell me.
haha, definitely, but aren't those kind of hard to find, being discontinued a handful of years ago? actually, i think lilierk might have the blue version up on ebay. its worth a look.
thats cuz he was waiting for me to say it first improvement over badminton racket have been been very very slow anyways i don't think new rackets are really "that" much better just try the one that suits you, or get another ti7L, unless you want to use a longer racket or cab...
