New facility in S. Cal? (LA Badminton Club)

Looks like there will be a new dedicated 15-court badminton facility opening up in LA this coming fall.

Nice layout although the courts looks pretty close together based on the floor plan.

interesting how it already mentioned hosting the US Open.

a facility nicer than OCBC imho. except perhaps the ceiling which looks like around 2.5 storeys.

"L.A. Badminton Club will feature a "floating" floor system with high resiliency and uniformity. It consists of a vapor barrier lining, two-stage shock pads, 2 layers of wood sub-flooring, and maple hardwood on top."

I hope this is the new trend of more presence of badminton in north america. It doesnt matter how much canada do, all big trend must start from the US first.

Wow this is awesome news. I'll have to visit my family in L.A. more often to check it out.

This new gym is located in El Monte, same city as the San Gabriel Badminton Club. ( http://www.scbabadminton.org/SGVBC)
Wonder if there is any connection? Did SGBC upgrade or expand? Or is this a whole new group of investors?

Hopefully we can get more information on this. This facility is only a few miles from the San Gabriel/Pasadena Club site, which is open 24/7 for members, is a fairly nice facility, and charges reasonable membership fees. There are no membership rates mentioned on the LABC site, but it might be too expensive for many players. I have to wonder about the wisdom in locating so close to SGVBC, unless SGVBC is planning to close.

Personally, I think it would be better to locate a new club further north in Ventura county, or farther inland, like in the Cal Poly-Pomona/Mt. SAC area.

Their website says Fall, 2005. Being so close to the location, maybe you can get more info for us.
