about the ankle weights, i am highly against it. it is bad for your ankle. it is much better to just do more shadows. instead of having more weight, you should try to do the shadows faster.

I think shadows has been discuss many times here :p
Do some search up and u should be able to find some;)
Going back to fake.. u need speed.. which is so hard to achieve, at least for me haha
U have to get there in time, preferably before the shuttle even arrive...
Then your 1st motion will be a slow one (ie. pretending u wanna net) while holding a stationary position, then in an instance u lower your racket and hit the shuttle to the back court! This final action should be executed ASAP to create a more convicing and deceptive fake..
    Hope that helps...

    split step?

would you prefer to use split step to in order to achieve the neccessary speed to get the bird? yeah speed is hard to acheve but if you can do split step properly you'll not hav a hard time in gettin the bird but in order to do split step properly you must first anticipate the oppents attack am i right? thanks 4 d tip by d way i think it's very effective :D

    No.

The whole point of a "split step" or "split drop" is that you CANNOT anticipate your opponent's shot. Otherwise you could just go there.

The split step allows you to move quickly as soon as you see where your opponent places the shuttle.

haha whatever step you take it doesn't really matter..
Just as long as it is the most efficient and quickest way to get there
(Obviously it still has to be within appropriate foorwork! ;))
Anticipation is not a good approach at start, unless u have figured out the opponent's game, what he/she is capable of.. Then u can think ahead and push him to his limit and anticipate his next shot:cool:
