report and photos by Dille Andersen 1) Who is still in the game after the morning session? In MIXED DOUBLES all the seeded pairs are still in the event. It is a little different in the MEN'S SINGLES (which is still ongoing....!) So far the two 9/16 seeds, Eric Pang and Dicky Palyama, both NED, are out of the 2006 WBSO! Pang lost to Li Yu, CHN and Palyama to Yeoh Kay Bin, MAS. 2) Tommy Moesch, the guy you have gotten to know as the one who prints all results am a friendly guy! An multi-talented too! He lent one spare plug to someone, and word spread around that they could plug in at Tommy's place! (Please don't do that!) WHen the next person came along Tommy exclamed: "I'm Mr. Plug in!!!" On a serious note - most of Europe use the same kind of plug but Switzerland is one of the few exceptions..... so looking for a 'normal' outlet is quite a task here! So what is plugged in? Camera batteries - often used by the coaches to record their players and opponents. But also players' MP3's....... a very valuable tool for most players these days! 3) They are occupying the best seat of the house - they are in total control - they have the power to rule and overrule.............. They are the UMPIRES! If you are interested in getting the best seat of the house - contact the Umpires Association in your country!
