last saturday, i popped a knuckle from a fight. I popped it back in but my hand is really bruised. I have badminton tryouts this saturday and i can't even hold a racket! can anyone give me tips on speeding up recovery? i dont want this to ruin my chance on being in the badminton team.:crying:
you can always tryout using your left hand and say, "if im this good with my left hand, i must be amazing with my right".
wow.. smart, you get into a fight RIGHT before the tryouts. well my advice is... see a doctor, hopefully he wont make it hurt more, for its own good. and also, when u play, wrap it up nice and tight with something. for me, any injury wont hurt me when im playing badminton i love the sport too much to feel the pain. you can try holding back the pain for one day.. another way is u can tell the coach that u got an injury on ur arm. dont say u got into a fight. tell him u fell on it or something. if u got into a fight, he might not want u in the team, cuz u might bring the team spirit down. well, wut i'd do is, wrap it up so they know u have an injury, but still play. this will show them that u are willing to work for the team, even tho u have an injury. good luck on saturday!!
i just found out i have another week until there is another tryout session. can anyone give me tips/advice on how to speed up my recovery time? i've already applied ice to my hand
1st thing 1st, is to visit a doctor. They should be able to give u the correct advice base on their experience. We are not experts, and without actually inspect your injury, it's too much risk to give you any advice.
hmm.. brusing.. arnica cream is always a good start.. (seems to work for everything) alternating hot and cold (seems to work for everything since it stmulates circulation while reducing inflammation) rest - since it's only bruising and not torn muscles / ligaments etc it should stiffen a great deal. advice for the future - don't get into fights... talk the guy down - if your prone to figting off court what on earth is your mental strength like on court!! Coops
If it don't heal by the tryout time, u can always tape your hand to your racquet, although u'r shout type and performance maybe limited
i recently paid a visit to the doctor and he told me vitamin k and vitamin c helps in bruise healing dramatically. Vitamin k will cause blood clots so you will stop bleeding internally, and vitamin c helps heal damaged blood vessels. So basically, he estimates this treatment to help you heal 20-30% faster.
Wow, this is new information! I've never heard of this before. Vit K is used in the production of clotting factors by the liver. But as it's already a few days past the injury, I severely doubt there's any more bleeding (unless you have haemophilia). Vit C? If you are deficient in Vit C, your blood vessels are weaker. If you are NOT vit C deficient and have healthy vessels that have broken from trauma, I've not heard vit C can make you heal faster. 20-30% difference is a big difference. Big enough that it should be a common therapy [and more importantly, common knowledge - which it isn't]. So I have my doubts on the validity of the claim.
Cheung, do u know any ways to speed up healing/recovery time? I miss playing and training badminton ! :crying: My friends and i are at the same skill right now, but they will soon become better since i cant even swing a racket without feeling immense pain.:crying: if my hand does not heal by next saturday, i will surely be cut from the team. please help!
I may not be a doctor, but I am an expeditions' lay medic. And I know the answer to this question. You won't like it. There is a magic way to speed up overall healing and recovery. The secret is to give the body plenty of time to heal, and not to allow short-term external factors (like being picked for the team) influence your behaviour. If you try to force the pace, then you are likely to aggravate your injury, so that it may take much longer to heal. In other words, the quickest way to heal is to heal slowly! Be patient. I've known people ignore this advice before on expedition, to their detriment. Your long-term health and fitness is more important than Saturday's team selection. Follow your doctor's advice strictly.
I have to second what Gollum has said, and i know from expirence. Last summer i messed up the tendons in my hand and well i couldnt play for a while and then missed the oppertunity for elite training and all that but im glad that i missed it cause my tendons healed and i didnt rush into it and potentially make it worse. See a doctor and do as they tell you cause its for your own good. You dont want to rush it and maby be able to play for tryouts but have problems down the road or could miss it and then be able to play without problems. Anyways good luck with your recovery hope you make a full one and are able to play again.
If the pain is so bad, I don't think anybody can help you. You can still train footwork though. llok at it this way. If you can move around court better than your friends, you can reach a whole lot more shuttles than they can. Their racquet skills won't be useful at all if they can't run into position properly And maybe you could negotiate for a delayed tryout since you have a proper injury. If you got a doctor's cert, maybe it would provide more authenticity (but I don't know if it will definately help with the coach).
my hand is close to being fullyhealed now, except i have stubborn bruises on my knuckles, which is confusing since i only injured my pinky knuckle. any ideas?
lol. wut i'd do now is just make a fist as hard as i can lol. it hurts, but then i know how much it'll hurt, so im ready whenever im about to use force with that hand. i dunno if its good for the bruise or not.. so dont try it unless u want to. DONT BLAME ME IF IT GETS WORSE
