    Predictions

    MS
Lee CW bt Wong CH (70% confidence)
    Gade bt Xia XZ (90%)
Too bad for the "Wong v Xia" romantics. :)

    WS
Pi HY bt Zhu Lin (60%)
    Mia bt Xu HW (55%)
I expect both to be close encounters.

    MD
    Boe/Mogensen bt Jung JS/Lee YD (70%)
    Chan/Koo bt Sang/Zheng (51%)
Despite good results so far, the Koreans still an unknown quantity to me. Against an established Danish pair, I give them less chance.

    WD
Lee KW/Lee HJ bt Zhang Dan/Zhao TT (70%)
    Du/Yu bt Chin/Wong (60%)
I have been underestimating my compatriots, but I think Du/Yu will be really too much for them. Of course, I hope they prove me wrong again. I think Lee/Lee would have beaten Zhang Dan/Zhang Yawen or Wei/Zhao anyway, so don't think Zhang Dan/Zhao TT would make any difference.

    XD
    Blair/Munt bt Clark/Kellogg (75%)
    Robertson/Emms bt Zheng Bo/Zhao TT (90%)

LCW will beat WCH..but choong hann is on a good form now as he showned in beating hyun il so easily..in fact both are on good form..may be a close match..
i also think Chin/Wong has a chance of beating Du/Yu...they are on their best form lately...they've beaten wei yili/zhao tingting and another chinese pair i don't see why they can't beat Du/Yu..

The news first reported that China team will skip this year Swiss open, now China spare team is still dominant in this Swiss open with 6 quarter finalists, and especially covers all 5 events (6 quarter-finalists in 5 events). Other badminton power houses, Malaysia, has 4 quarter-finalists in 3 events. England 3 quarter-finalists in 1 event, Denmark 2 quarter-finalists in 2 events, Korea 2 quarter-finalists in 2 events. Indonesia has 0 this time.

It is difficult for Zheng Bo and Zhaoo TT, because both of them have to fight two matches in a short time across different events, MD, LD, and XD. If their Mixed double is not arranged first match of the day, then they will probably lose. Peter Gade is capable, but his problem is that he always chokes at big time.

Which means that both Zheng Bo and Zhao TT have to play 2 events' matches in evening time with little time to rest in between.

One question: is IBF encouraging players playing multiple events or just single event?

Quetion2: is IBF promoting more on single events or double events?

In tennis, Wimbledon as example, the prize money are in the single events dominantly. Over 5 million $ for both men, women single players, with 1 million $ for the champs. While for mens double and womens double, only 1 million totally with 0.3 million $ goes to the champs. and Mixed double, got only 0.1 million $.

Badminton, on the other site, seems to promote doubles more. Especially mens doubles, their prize often is higher than any others if not at least equal to. Also Badminton discriminates women severely, for example, the Denmark master, only has men's single, men's double and xd. I remember a lot of legal problems in tennis opens if they did not treat women equally.

In badminton the highest money prize still in MS than WS and then MD and then WD and XD. Although the amount of MD prize money is higher than WS but remember that the MD prize money had to be share 50:50 while the WS player had all the money prize for herself.

hmmm.. lets see - i would say it's 50:50 for Blair and Munt vs Clark and Kellog especially after their outstanding win against Lee/Lee last night..

Robertson/Emms vs Bo/TT prolly not quite 90% but certainly 75%

the all english mixed semi should be good tho..
altho all the semi's should be good matches probably, by now the in form players are through and it'll come down to fitness and dealing with the pressure..

    Coops

PS - shame i'm out tonight - won't be watching any of the live scoring :(

    Updated result:

Zhang Dan/Zhao TingTing managed to do what they never achieve when Zhao pair with WYL and ZD pair with ZYW, they beat the Korean pairs 2 sets :

    17:16 15:9

Zhu Lin suprisingly beat Pi Hong Yan easily 11:3 11:2

    Chan/Koo won WO against Sang/Zheng.
