hello BCers I was wondering if I should cut my racquet strings if I will put my racquet away for a few months. Will the frame become warped after if I don't cut the strings? thanks in advanced
If you don't use your racquet for a while, it's better to cut the strings. That releases the tension on the frame, so it will last longer..
Just want to add some point. Also depending on what kind of string and when the racquet was restrung. If you use YY BG80 ot BG85 and the racquet is just restrung, don't cut it ,because the these 2 strings will hold tension for very long time. For other string like BG65, cut it. The string bed will lose tension in 1~2 month anyway.
if you string your racket above 25 lbs you should cut it or there is a possibility of the racket warping.
If you play competitivly, which usually means higher tension, I would say cut the string. It will give less risk to the racket, and once the string is in air for too long, it will feel loose and dead anyway. However, if the tension is low, and you mainly use this racket for fun-type of game, I guess you don't have to worry too much. Just make sure don't put the racket in hazarous environmental condition.
If you care about the string tension, then you can cut the strings as in a few months of time, your string tension will drop a lot.
