I am just a jr.high student that cant get a job yet and I hate when my feather shuttles break. With the money that I get (not a lot ) it is kinda hard to buy new ones. I was just wondering if anyone could explain how to fix a feather birdie. If anyone knows that would be great.
You can't. (Well, you can try -- but it will cost more money to fix one than to buy a new one, and you'll probably fail anyway.)
make sure you steam your shuttles before you play it will increase the life of them...depends on shuttle though every one will have a different life span. There isnt really a way to fix a broken feather shuttle though...you just have to buy more unfortunatly...
you can prolong the life of a shuttle buy straightening the feathers out after every point, me and my friend did that, we went through only 1 shuttle playing 2 singles games, got atleast 80 hits out of it and at the end of it, the shuttle was still fine lol played up to 21 using the new rules
It greatly depends on the game play. Sometimes even u straighten the feather it, with powerful smashes or mishit of the shuttle will still destroy the feather. If the feather is broken, no use straightening it. If it's too costly for you, i suggest you should just get plastic. Some are quite similar to feather. Not 100% but at least 70-80%.
I do steam them before playing but they still break. I tried switching to nylon shuttles but I dont like them as much as the shuttle. Thanks for helping though.
Basically steaming feather shuttles is like humidfying them. You can do this easily by using a humidifier. In doing so, the feathers on the shuttles aren't so brittle and therefore lasts longer.
http://www.shuttlecock.com/Resources/Shuttlecock/hydrate-steaming.php I use a kettle instead of a pan of water. The kettle spout is ideal.
