Turn up the volume real loud, and filter out the noise, echo and drone and you're all set.

i might have a better version. i found out that Nero comes with a sound editor that does an ok job filtering out the background noise. i will merge it with the video file tonight and see if the end result is better...

kwun, I tried to amplify the sound track last night using Video Studio but it did not like the AVI file. Its complaining the file is not in the right format or copyright protected...which I doubt is the case. I also found out Video Studio only makes DVD file format, ......so it does not serve the purpose here.

Then I tried using Nero and I was able to import the AVI file, amplified the volume to 200% (max out), and replayed it....but still it has not reached the level I want (better but still barely hear the conversation). I guess what can be done next is to export it again back to AVI format and reimport to repeat anohter round of amplification.......I did not get a chance to try the second round as it was getting late at night.

Amplication isn't the problem here ... at least not initially. We need to apply a filter to pick out the broad spectrum buzz first, and then we can bring up what remains a little. Else we'd be amplifying the noise too.

wow just watched it. Really great interview! Great job Kwun! Seriously really great! BTW are you really really tall or were you just standing on a higher part of the stands? In the last bit when you all stand up you look like your 7 feet tall Yao 'Kwun' Ming lol!

haha. no. i was standing a step above Tony, so that may be why i appeared so tall...

i am glad the audio sounds better now. i learned a lot about video editing...

ok. i re-watched the interview again. 15mins certainly goes very quickly when one is talking about badminton. i think i can spend a couple of hours with these guys just chatting about badminton and it still won't be enough.

    a few more thoughts.

Tony's English is really good considering he wasn't fluent in it when he first came to the US. he said the first 6 months was really tough but he got help from his friends/teammates.

he is now studying computer engineering in DeVry. but he is finding it difficult as well as costly.

the plan is for Howard and Bob Malaythong to play in the next Olympics as Tony will not be able to qualify without citizenship. Tony / Halim will continue to play for fun.

dude, was i nervous/shaking or what!

and thanks for my friends who helped me with the taping. very good job with the zoom and panning.

so..Kwun, does that mean Tony/Howard will not pair anymore in international tourney from now onwards? because it's better for Howard to start from now to pair with Bob, so that in 2008, they are ready for it, at least get higher ranking and seeded.

Btw, is Tony applying for US citizenship now?

they will play the Philippines and China Masters. they are also at the same time trying to bring Bob up to the level of Howard. that maybe the longer term plan though.

i didn't ask him about citizenship. i will be surprised if he is not though. i also know that it is a long process to get citizenship (5 years residency)
