Unless something major changes, he will not play in the Superseries. He made it clear last fall that he would only be entering events where the BKA was not sending players. Canada was not an exception because that was a contingent made up of one men's university and one women's pro team. The fact that a few of them were national team players was incidental. Of course, since the Thomas Cup, the BKA has changed its tune somewhat and talked about having him play at the Asian Games but the issue has not been inviting him back to the national team, as far as I know, and so he will likely continue to avoid entering the same events.

I don't think points are the issue. The BKA has already said publicly that they want him to play in Incheon and he told the press a few days later that he had yet to discuss it with the BKA. My guess is that if they ask him to play, it will be for the team event. He already has three silvers, one gold, and one bronze from the last three Games. I doubt they'd put him in the individual competition. No one thinks he can beat Lee, Lin, or Chen without a lot of luck. It's not possible for Lee to pass Lee Dong Keun so he can only play third singles. Simon will be up to second singles by the Asian Games but Lin Dan will still be third, unless he plays Brazil or Palembang.

I understand the logic for the team event. To have him third is a real asset for the team, though to be second would be even better.
But why not also in the individual competition? Can't Korea register three players? He is certainly a chance for Korea to grab a medal, and at Games the total number of medals by Nation is what is important for those organizations.
I myself doubt he can grab a bronze, but it is not impossible.

I don't believe so. Every team has been limited to two entries, in the past. China was in Guangzhou, too, even as the host team. Only Chen Jin and Lin Dan in MS, Zhang/Zhao and He/Ma in XD, Wang/Yu and Tian/Zhao in WD, etc.

I just want to point out, that I really like Lee Hyun Il's love for badminton. Even though he said he retired like multiple times. He got 4th in 2008 olympics, retired. came back in 2012 and got 4th again. He's also representing korea as the 3rd singles player in the Asian Games. He just won a crucial match against japan to seal korea's win. Time and time again, he comes back and does big. He gets a lot less credit for what he has accomplished. I enjoy his play style and love for the sport. Despite being 34 years of age.

I hope this message gets to him somehow. keep on fighting!! you inspire us older guys to keep on fighting!

I think for team event, esp Olympics or Asian Games, you will have to wear team sponsor outfit. Same thing happened to JOJ when he played in Thomas Cup and was sponsored by Li-Ning but wore Yonex apparel. I also saw Japan team wore Mizuno shirts when they are not on court in the SF.

I daresay he is the most stylish player one can see on a court, lovely to watch live or on video due to his elegance in movement. Better in that respect than Lin Dan or Lee Chong Wei.

The Asian Games is his first time since London competing under the auspices of the national team and the rules on going with the team's official sponsor seem quite strict so he is likely still with Apacs, unless we hear differently, but he likely had no choice for these Asian Games.

he's done it again.. the team tournament specialist. win a deciding final match with his signature racket.

BS LHI's cosmetic is very attractive. This event will considerably raise its popularity like Astec's Aeroprestige 90 when Santoso defeat LCW back then
