Hi guys....dun know how many of u guys currently using Victor Champion No.1 (Darker green colour) shuttles.....but somehow lately while using it for my weekly plays.....find that its not as good and durable as before....even the flight consistency seems to be compromised. Dun know any of u guys have the same feeling about this shuttle??? WAT HAPPEN?? Or isit just me????

Somemore...as the price had increased to S$24  from the usual S$23 (noting that it had increased from S$22 since last year), its no longer such a good buy anymore. :( Hence, trying out Protech PT-10 now...and it was quite good...comparable to how i felt abt the "victor champion of the past". :p

Victor shuttles have been lowered in quality for about a year since the bird flu. The feather parts is not as high quality as before and they also started to put screws/little bricks into the cork to maintain the weight and it's done randomly.

In the meanwhile, their price has gone up 10% in TW, and that's why pretty much all of my friends have stopped using Victor shuttles since last year.

    Agree.

The quality consistency became such an issue for Victor lately. I've purchased 2 boxes (50 tubes) of Victor champ #3 recently. 1 box seems way superior than the other, in terms of flight consistency and durability. Guess it all depends on luck now. :(

I dun think so. They always maintain their shuttle quility to the max extend. Since its birdflu period, they have reduced their productivity. They choosed best feathers. That is why singapore importers do not wish to import victor shuttles a lot. Price go up, they dun earn much. I'm using all the 1st 3 grads, i dun see much differences in them. Its still strong as usual.

Thank for replying...bluejeff, LazyBuddy, JohnNano and JuSmashIt!!! :p Pheeew...confirm i m not the only one feeling the drop in quality about Victor Champ shuttles. Hmmm...was using up my old stockpile of Victor Champ No.1 shuttles till recently when i bought a couple of new tubes and used it dat i felt the difference in all aspects. Haizz...Victor Champ No.1 has always been my favourite. :( Anyway, JohnNano....ya... the baddy shop boss whom i always buy my shuttles from, always complain dat he dun dare to import much Victor nowadays as he had to tell his regular customers the prices gone up again significantly from $22 to $23.... and now to $24.

AS50 much much more expensive than the grad 1 victor. $30+ Its very true the pricce is going to rise to $28. You can ask the shops boss, either safra or artic, they will tell you and explain to you why.

If you are in TW, you will realize AS50 is way cheaper comparing to Victor Champion. For only spending extra 1 dollar/tube, the life of the shuttle doubles.

So far, all of clubs I know have refused to use Victor champions as we already knew their quality went down and they no longer buy raw materials in selections.

i currently do not like victor birds as they break very easily. a couple of good strong clears and the feathers are already gone from the hard hitting. right now, i am using RSL silver which are pretty decent.

Boss of Artric Pacific told me about the increase. But price of Yonex Aerosensa 40 has dropped to $24 per tube.

hahaha...same place where i buy my shuttles man. Looks like i got to pay him a visit soon to ask him about it... WHY LIKE THAT???? :p but AS40 has always been that price leh....but last time prefer Victor Champ no.1 over AS40 coz its much more durable. Hmm.. if victor decides to increase till $28.... might have to go bk to AS40 or maybe try out others. the boss also told me before that wif the price increase to $24 for victor champ...alot of the regular users decide to switch to AS40 already also. i bought PT-10 from him...so far...its quite good...but as the boss said...PT-10 flies abit faster den victor champ. :D

Thanks for the clarification/confirmation BJ. I thought the quality was down and I heard rumors about it but was hoping it wasn't true. :(

A few months ago, I think cappy75 ran out of shuttles and got some from the pro shop at VRC. Victor Greens and wow, were they BAD. I almost thought they were fake or something. :D

Really? The VGs I've used here have never been that bad. Dang, I hope Victor gets it right and makes a come back.

The quality did dropped or rather changed over the years. I only recently decided to pick up my racquet for serious games again after a 12 year rest, during my rest, i've been showing up once every quarter for some quick fun and I felt differences on Victor's quality, in this case gradual drop of quality over the years. I only use Victor after All England shuttlecocks disappeared..... i miss them man! But in any case i think victor is still better than AS40 :D

    AS50 in TW

    Hi bluejeff,
Which shop in TW can you get AS50 so cheap? AS50 at MattShop http://www.mattshop.com.tw/splb-new.asp?spdl=shuttle&spxl=YY-Shuttle
is 50NT$(~US$1.6) more than Victor No. 1.

I have been playing with the boys in Stratford who have continued to use Victor Champions and the price seems to have stayed at C$24 and the quality doesn't seem to have deteriorated. I noticed a decrease in quality in Korea but I explained in another thread that they started making a distinction between the ones in the green and white tube with a "No. 1" sticker on them and those without. They used to sell the "No. 1"'s cheaply but then they increased the price up closer to what they pay in Canada and still sold the ones in the green and white tube at the old price. The non-No. 1 Victor Champion shuttles didn't get less durable but they did get a lot heavier. I haven't bought any of the "No. 1" shuttles in Korea since they went up in price so I don't know whether the quality has changed there.

I was referring to my experiences with the C3 not C1. I don't play with many C1s. Too expensive. :p
