is the paint quality of yonex's rackets good? how do u guys compare against other brands or other yonex models, for eg musclepower series against armortec series? as in does the paintwork come off easily? cos i was thinking of getting either an mp99 or an at800de and wan to find out if either paint quality is better than the other. of course, this is just another factor besides the performance and price. sorry if this question sounds lame cos im dying to find out and i haven used either rackets or test out its paint quality for that matter
Then, maybe just maybe, you need to master that before buying a new racket !! ; the paint quality is a relative thing ; it is very hard to say which models have better paint quality, it depends on how you use it on & off court.
Errrr... but isn't the main (and proper) usage for a racket is to hit the shuttles with string bed? Even u have the proper way to scooping the shuttles, u still can NOT prevent the chips, as the racket will likely being scratched against the floor surface anyway.
Yonex racquet paint I purchased a new 2006 nano 8000, muscle power 66, Wilson v-14, and N2. After only 5 sessions of practice both Yonex racquets had large paint chips. After several months of use and multiple racquet clashes both Wilson racquets look like new. I should add that a prior V14 series racquet I used had very poor quality paint. Also I have a used carbon Yonex Isometric(12 yrs.?) that has perfect paint after heavy use.
hmm how did you chip your racquets? By clashing? When I bought mine, I compared the SP version and other version side by side, and I found out the SP version has lower quality paint job (i.e. the paint is not alligned perfectly - but I'm sure both of them are authentic since its a reputable store). I dropped my racquet several times, clashed it (by some aggressive beginners who were trying to steal shoots), and banged it right into my eye, and the paint job is still perfect.. don't know if its just luck or what..
i heard that it's quite poor.Paints r chipping after clashes..unlike some other oven-painted rackets.
Yonex paint quality Both Yonex racquets were used only for singles practice when the paint began to chip off. I magnified the areas of paint damage to see if the carbon fibers were damaged and they were intact. I can only guess that the frames were not clean prior to painting. Nevertheless I think that a $200 yonex racquet should have a paint job equal to a $35 Wilson racquet. I am not surprised that your SP version is troublesome since most of them like the racquets sold on Ebay are counterfeit. Fake racquets with fake strings, fake grips, even fake cases. If you buy a CD version from an authorized Canadien dealer you should have no difficulty.
Thats weird, my racquets never got chipped like that... I have US and IP versions and the paint works on both of them are excellent! Theres once my friend tried to steal my shoot from behind (the birdy was right above my head, I hitted it back, then somehow he just clashed my racquet from behind ). He was using a wilson racquet, the paint of his racquet was left on my Ti-10, I just simply scratched the paint out, and it didn't even penerate into the clear coat! I tried my friend's wilson racquet, the paint job looks nice, but you will not want to play /w it.. I bought both my racquets from an authorized Canadian dealer, but since they don't carry the CD versions I want, so they helped me to order other versions.
I have wondered why badminton racquets are even painted. The paint doesn't add any stiffness or stuctural integrity and does make the racquet a bit heavier. Other items I have used such as arrows, canoe and kayak paddles, golf clubs, ski poles were left unpainted. Paint is an easy way to cover up manufacturing flaws.
Usually cosmetic things are for marketing purpose. You know for badminton racquets, if they are not painted, most of them will look exactly the same! I doubted if anyone will buy a black, unpainted frame, which is claimed to be AT-900, instead of just buying an unpainted ISO racquet that looks exactly the same.. For badminton, technologies may make more difference in terms of performance, unlike stuffs like arrows, paddles, etc. I guess different brands of paddles will do the same good, atleast they don't have significant difference when comparing to badminton racquets. Another advantage people may find by looking at the painting of the racquets is to identify the model of the racquets during games.. If you know racquets well, you can tell whether its good in attack or defence.. I know its gay, but theres once when I was playing with some real good players, they just keep smashing at me cause I was using an attack racquet, but actually I have better defence than my partner does..
Thanks for the tip on identification of opponents by racquet type. I'll keep that in mind for the future. Right now my idea of badminton fun is a 2 hr. non stop ralley without any scoring puntuated by an occasional out of bounds shot or a water break. I,m in it for the exercise and find badminton far more interesting than running around a track or swinging from an elliptical.
hi dragonova, as far i can tell, yonex's racquet paint tend to chip off or easily came off. i saw so many yonex with this syndrome and not on other brands. if you really prefer yonex, please go ahead and buy it. paint peel off, only looks that is sacrifice not the performance.
hey guys i have a conpiracy idea! what if yonex is making their paint of less quality to lower the resale value of ur rackets :O ! or maybe their being a litte cheep and trying to squeese a little more profit, or maybe both :O !!!
Paint Chip! Hi Draganova, Just consider that paint chip on your racquet as battle scars once you get them. Dont worry about it too much and just enjoy the game. Your opponent wont see the chip once you smash the shuttle on their direction.
Agreed. More like buying a car - Oh I don't want the paint scatched!! Try driving it on the highway over time.
