    Happy chinese new year everyone.

I decided to treat myself to a racket upgrade this year.

Check out the upgrade pictures of my racket.:)

I visited my local badminton gym and they had some broken rackets hanging on the wall.
I took some dual grommets (7 sets) off the rackets and also a set of muscle power grommet strip.
Replaced the top ten holes with 5 dual grommets and bottom 8 holes with 4 dual grommets.
Next, replaced the side grommets with the muscle power grommet strip (see picture).
I then strung my racket with a 65-Ti string to 30/32 lbs tension.
Added the shuttle logo with red ink stencil. :p
Lastly, added a yonex towel grip.

Can't wait to try out the racket tonight at the gym.

    Racket specs - Kason Carvel U4, weight=77g, shaft is semi-flexible, 4UG5.

    Enjoy.:)

New stencil logo for your racket?

Anyone have any interesting stencil logo to share?

Anything other than Yonex YY logo! or Original Manufacturer's Logo!

So far, I've made happy face, mean face, question mark, exclaimation mark.

    Any suggestions welcome.

Ya, your right, since it is the year of the DOG, I can paint a picture of a puppy face on my racket. I'll start on the graphics tonight.

Thanks for the great idea, cooler.
Doggie racket....so so funny. Never heard of a doggie racket before, till now.

The dual grommets on top will help the string last longer and the racket frame won't cut the string as easily.

Looking forward to more badminton players to copying this idea on their next set of new string job.

imo, it increases the sweet spot too;) plus better grommet durability under extreme high tension. Minus is a bit more air resistance. 2 pluses > 1 minus, therefore i likee :)

Is 30/32 lbs tension considered extreme high tension?

Air resistance? I'll let you know if I feel any air resistance after tonight....:D

Anyone know where to buy the dual grommets? Besides taking from broken rackets?

Thanks, I just got tired of looking at other peoples YY logo, so I wanted my racket to look different. Maybe it will catch on and grow in popularity.

The grommets were free, the gym owner hangs the broken Yonex rackets on the wall for yonex exchange program. The owner didn't care if I removed the dual grommets. Of course there weren't many available. Just enough for me to make one racket.

I like to buy some more if anyone knows where to purchase them.

Wow, just took the racket out for a test drive and it was great.

Love the sound of the birdy hitting the string, pure power.

Everyone at the gym loves my birdy logo on the string.

Now I'm getting special requests for the same logo on their rackets.

Anyone want their racket custom strung with the birdy logo?

    Muscle Power grommets

Hi. I just wanted to clarify a boubt of mine. Will putting on the Muscle Power grommets on a racket have any negative effect on the racket? Will there be any problems if I put two strips of that on a NanoSpeed 8000? Just wondering. Thanks.

this is pretty cool stuff viper.

Could this be a start of the Badminton Racket Modding trend (everybody starts asking for broken rackets and their grommets...)? Kind of reminds me of Computer modding.

    Major props for your creativity.

kaizen's question is interesting too. I wonder what comments the more senior forum members have about this.

I'm no senior. but Whý do you want it?. more head-heavy (minor detail, not thát much weight..)?
I have Never broken any string at that spot. so I doubt the duarability is a factor. and most of all: do you think it'll fit?

Monday is my day off from badminton, I'll be at the gym on Thursday, you can test drive it then.

They still play on Mondays? I thought no one shows up anymore on Mondays. I guess everyone is back after the holiday season is over.

Are you playing the pot on Thursday?

Cooler mentioned air resistance (very little if any for A players).
I use the MP grommets to prevent the racket frame from cutting into the string from extreme high tension, such as 30/32 lbs. At high tension, the string sometimes cut thru the single grommets. Also the MP grommets are more rounded, less stress on the string.

If MP uses it on the bottom, why not at the top? Why stop at only 4?
I actually used 9 on my last racket.

    Thanks for your compliment.

Are you going to try out the idea?
