2004 & 2005 North Coast Sectional Champions! @ Mission San Jose High School 41717 Palm Avenue Fremont, CA 94539 Without a badminton coach there will be no badminton season!
It seems as though every other high school in California needs a badminton coach. Badminton is getting less popular each year.
I'm so glad that someone is actually doing something about the lack of a coach. I would hate it so much if badminton season was cancelled for Mission.
Time Commitment goliath, I was wondering when badminton practice is usually scheduled and how long the season is... I'm be interested in the position, but my work schedule is (unfortunately) busy. But I can't accept the possiblity of Mission not having a season, if this is actually the case if the badminton season were to be canceled due to lack of a coach. When I played at Mission in the 90's, practice was from 3:00-5:00 for Varsity, and 5:00-7:00 for JV. Has this changed, and is this flexible to either before school or later after 5:00? dt
To be honest with you this would be my first time playing so I don't know, but you can email Tom Thomson at tthomsen@mail.fremont.k12.ca.us or call him. http://www.fremont.k12.ca.us/MVAL/Badminton.pdf Here is a badminton schedule for the season, although I don't know what times practices are or how flexible they can be.
Dang Mission without a coach? that would suck because i would like to see some of you guys play at NCS for more competitiveness. Its not gonna be the same if you guys are not in your league because then whoever wins NCS wouldnt really have a strong run towards 1st place with the lack of competitiveness . Hope you guys find a coach because the season starts this monday Feb 6th!
For the time being, season is postponed for us. :crying: This really sucks; I'm going to be stuck at home all day. (No car so can't drive to badminton gyms to practice.)
I found out today that the practice times are flexible, but the badminton coach would have to work out who gets what gym at what time with the vollyball coach.
How come you guys doesn't select a responsible persone to take the "official responsibilty" and then you stood for the practice and drills yourself?
That sounds like a good idea, especiallyif you need someone in a rush. I was told some local schools here, they assign a gym teacher as the "head coach / manager" of the club/team. This person will be in charge of the daily management stuff, and get the team going. Then, they hire a professional as the part time coach, who comes in once a while to teach the skills, and assign "homework" (i.e. proper drills, physical work out, etc) to the players. This way, there's always someone in charge to get the "political issues" covered and save some budget.
Well now we have a head coach. This is her first year coaching badminton and we still need assistant coaches!
hi guys, im from the uk and play badminton league myself overhere in division 1. Im not a qualified coach but it is something id love to get in to. just a few questions: what kind of standard does the coach need to be? does the coach have to be fully qualified? what standard are the players / students? is this voluntary position or is their a salary involved? cheers in the mean time feel free to take a look at my site and view my player profile: www.manor-court-badminton.co.uk/jonfroggett.html
Aren't there any "coach-crash-courses" in england? We have them in denmark where it's possible to get a basic education during a weekend. Once you have that you can take a weekend more a higher level and evelope your coaching-skills. Otherwise there's 9-months elite-coach courses which gives you knowledge about everything you need to know.
