    Question tactics against these 2 types of players..read on plz!

    for a girls singles game what techniques would you suggest using against:
    1)a tall (angled drops and smash) and strong opponet(deep clears) who also has a long reach(able to get net shots)
    2)short and nimble player who is quick on their feet with decent power(ie. clear from backline to opposite doubles service line)

    ..so far thats all the details i can think of. if confusion comes up ill try to provide more info thnx!!

    Your suggested action(s) might work, however, ...

    For the first 4 points (total, meaning 4-0, 3-1, ..., 0-4)

    Create an opportunity, dont force the opportunity.

    Keep the shuttle in play, and conduct the Four-corners tour.

    No easy give-aways to your opponent.

    The data from these 1st 4 points will be your basis for playing the next 4 points.

    One point at one time.

    For the tall one, it's harder. But for the short one, keep those shots, just out of comfortable reach, ie, hit lower attack clears that she can return, but put her in a difficult position to recover. When she drops (not so high quality due to the attack clears), take the high net shot, or flick her back if she moves too early. The shorter player is usually much easier to play against. Angled half smashes that make them stretch is good too.

    do u mean play defensively (safe shots..ie. clears, drops) and jus hit the shuttle all around the court to pull the opponent away from base??

    Opportunity comes when the opponent starts lagging, that's when you see openings in her defense. Usually against taller opponents, you smash at them forcing them into unnatural positions to defend against your shot. For shorter opponents, stretch them out all over the court. Of course, tournament players of all types can handle any shot so it won't be as simple as doing the above.

    I find with taller players I tend to go to the body with smashes and low flicks at the net to their back hand side that are near their shoulder.

    By going close the shoulder you take away the potential over the head smash as they can't get full extention on it.

    With smashes, taller players can create some wicked angles on smash return, so going to the body will help limit that.

    i mean the most taller player are slower them the smaler ones, and footwork is not so good. they are good in defend a longline smash, but have trouble with cross smash and cross halfsmash. when they play cross clear play a cross halfsmash back, since they are slower in turn your upperboddy. when they smash defend cross.
    some are weak in netplay, so drops are good indeed. very aggresive clears (a little deeper than normal) could bring them in trouble. try to play very fast and down.


    shorter player cant often play powerfull from the back of the field, and cant defend so good a longline smash or a offensive clear. when they play a cross smash a defence longline is better.

    Not all tall players are susceptible to body smashes. A steep smash is actually more effective because they have to bend down for it. It doesn't mean that they can't reach it, but you can get them out of position with a steep smash down the line.

    Also, tall players tend to wear out faster in a long game, so keep the game going long, pull her to the front by playing a dropshot or blocking her dropshot to the net and then lift the shuttle back again to the back if she plays a netshot. You must be sure that the shuttle is lifted high enough so that she can't intercept it in mid court.

    I assume your techniques and physical fitness level are about the same right?

    thanks for the tips guys! ill def. keep them in mind. and im having trouble wit the search engine:S so can some1 post a link to a thread that give suggestions to improving mouvement adn fitness??
