Several people have been asking if there was a site which showed the basic strokes and footwork movements. There is a site I know of, but it`s in Japanese! Not much use to most of you! Therefore I`ve put together a collection of direct links to the relevant pages on the site, and as there are a lot of pictures and video you can get by without being able to read what`s written. Basic grip - Eastern grip http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/rucket.html Footwork - examples of footwork to the back and forehand corners http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/foot.html Clear http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/clear.html Cut/Slice http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/cut.html Drive http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/drive.html Receive ( probably more useful for doubles ) http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/return.html Net - for some reason only the backhand stroke http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/net.html Smash - complete with jump smash http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/smash.html Side shot - if under pressure to get shots back from the back http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/side.html High Backand http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/hiback.html Backhand Service and Doubles receive http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/servis.html Split step http://aqua.pekori.to/badminton/reaction.html Some of the pics and video aren`t so great but at least this gives you a controlled look at most of the main strokes ( minus the forehand net shot - weird!!). Any questions just let me know.
Another site Thnx for the links, Steplantis. For a good mix of some basic as well as advanced vid clips, go to www.SportsID.com and select Badminton. There are a number of clips that deal with grips. footwork, strokes & other topics.
Through a Google search, I found a reference to the site aqua.pekori.to/, but when I click on it, I get the Page Cannot be Displayed message.
It's probably a good idea to make Steplantis an honourary member of BF; he comes up with so many of these great sites and references to help amateurs like me learn the theory in hitting before applying them on the court.
sportid video - does anyone have videos from the sports id site? the site seems to be 'under construction' for quite sometime now.
you might want to try google video. there're lots of links to 'basic' / 'interesting' badminton videos. eg: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6958888713354397380&q=badminton
