is this book currently available in bookstores in Manila? My friend will be picking it up for me if it is.

    Php 450 = approx $10.25CAD
A friend willing to pick it up and bring it back to you = a beer?

Neo, would you be willing to have your friend pick up an extra copy for you and then you ship it to me in the U.S.? = ?$$$?

    Default Print vs. Downloadable version

    Hi all.

Thanks for the interest in the book. I just wanted to let you guys know that the print version was meant mainly for the Philippine market. It was printed with fewer colored-pages to keep costs down and affordable for the local market. There was zero budget for marketing (Butch and I had to do it all by ourselves). If it had been printed in the US or UK, it would have cost something like $35 or more. Still, as it is, the Philippine version is pretty complete, clear and helpful to a lot of players of all levels (some top coaches in fact use the book to "explain" their techniques to their students because, before the book, they could show their students how to do a stroke but couldn't quite explain the concepts/steps--like some can play badminton really well but can't explain or teach).

Now since I did all the writing and layout based on Butch Oreta's explanations and videos, I have access to the original file. So whenever Butch, or I, or due to readers' suggestions, find something that would make the book even better (better explanations, graphics/images, better emphasis, new techniques, etc.), I am able to put it in automatically and have it ready for the next download. Thus the current book available for download has more stuff: it's in full-color, has a couple more pages and some existing pages have been improved due to new insights, study, and feedback. Also, in the future, when new changes are added, all buyers of the download version are email-informed and they get to download the new versions.

    Thanks,

    vip

I broke down and bought the ebook.
I've been scrolling through and read a couple of sections. It's quite detailed and chock full of photos. I'm looking forward to having a block of time where I can spend more time reading it. Should have put it on a memory stick so I can read it at work right now!
I'm not a big fan of ebooks but it sure beats not having the book at all.

    Thanks Vip!

You're welcome. Well, I proposed the book to Butch because I sorely wanted a really good badminton instructional book. I so wanted to improve my game and learn how the pros do it, but I couldn't find any resource that taught the strokes. Butch was gracious enough to agree to reveal all his secrets and stuff he's learned over the years.

I'm afraid not. I contacted some Singapore publishers/distributors, but the ones I emailed weren't interested in distributing the book in Singapore.

    Mr. vip_m,

About the ebook, it is said it cannot be copied, so if someday when I need to change my computer and need to relocate the ebook, wouldn't that be a problem ?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

You can copy your ebook file. The "it cannot be copied" just means you can't copy the text and photos/diagrams inside the book.

    Thanks,
