i'm thinking about restringingmy armortec 700 for the first time, but i don't know anything about restringing rackets. i don't mind too muchabout what kind of sound or pitch or whatnot. all i want from restrinign my racket is that it's more efficient and has stronger strings. i heard from my freinds that 22+ tension on a racket is super strong and will only pop the strings faster? i'd like my strings to be durable enough for an entire year. and because i probably won't be playing as much badminton when i get into college next year, i was hoping to resting my racket for a relatively cheap price, say...less than $25. so i was thinking about getting 21 tension, but i don't know what type of string and things. i was hoping someone could clarify tension and string type on an armortec 700?
Having a racket restrung at higher tensions will cause the string to break quicker. With tensions 22+ the string will break within a few months say if you play a few hours a week. I dont get what you mean by 'stronger strings'. Is it the feel when you push hard against it? And do you refer to more efficient as in more control? Higher tensions will indeed inprove the accuracy of your shots but sacrifices power and durability. I play a few a week with the armortec strung at 20 lbs and the string snapped after 4 months of playing so durability obviously is affected by how mush you play. If you want durability more so than power from a string then the YOnex BG65 is a durable string.
If you're ever in SoCal, I'll string your racket for $12, including string. My experience with the newest Yonex rackets has been: String at a slightly higher tension for better overall performance, preferably with high repulsion string such as BG-66/80/85, 68Ti, Ashaway PG66/65, ML/ML-XL, et. al. I've done quite a bit of experimenting for many different players ranging from "A" to "D". They have told me at one time or another their new Yonex rackets (ATs, NSs) feel dead sometimes after a new string job. I inspect the racket and it's usually BG-65 strung @ 18-24lbs. I redo the string job with BG-80 (my benchmark string) and string it at 23/25-26/29lbs., depending on the player and so far, in all instances, the racket plays very well to as well as it's ever played. For players that want BG-65, I go 24/26 - 28/31lbs. to account for the extra tension loss. and have had 100% success as well, though not as dramatic as using BG-80. Why? My theory is the newer Yonex rackets are stiffer, more rigid than the rackets of the old and significantly lighter and by going lower tension you are somehow neutralizing the benefits of the new "technology". The slightly to moderately tighter string bed brings out the "technology" in the racket. How this happens I don't know as I'm not expert on the science of badminton. I just know what has worked in real world situations. Hope this helps.
i'm only playing badminton for my high school team. so, i guess, my clears aren't far enough into the court and i blame my racket for having a small factor in it. and also because the strings are becoming a little loose. i've settled for 21 and i want durable strings that'll last me 4+ months. i looked at the reviews for a yonex bg 65 and they said it was durable but it's preformance and efficiency decreases dramatically after a couple of plays, and a bg 66 usually pops after a while too. i play mon-fri, for like, 3 hours max. what's a good string that is both durable, cheap, and has an effective preformance that'll improve my hits? yeah, i'm sorry. i'm like an amature when it comes to these badminton equipments and things. but i would like strings that are effective for an intermediate player. thanks for all the help.
The only string that can last 4+ months is tennis string. Based on your criteria, there is no such string. It's an inverse relationship in general. The thinner the string, the better the performance at the cost of durability, the thicker the string, the better the durability, the worse the performance. Try BG-65 and/or BG-80 and see how that goes for you.
REally?? your string breaks in a week Are you a really hard hitter or something? You seem to be whacking the living daylights out of your string..
Break string in a week or 2 is normal, especially if you attend multiple sessions each week. Personally, I can break BG85 in a week or so. I am not a hard hitter, but i do slice a lot.
Well, people have told me I'm pretty hard on strings. I usually rotate rackets but a few days ago I just used one racket and here's my string bed after about 5-6 hours of playing minor to moderately hard. The string is Ashaway PG65 (0.70mm). It has a few good hours left...I hope.
Wow, that something i didn't know, thanks for that. About that image, im surprised it hasn't snapped yet. Usually for me its just and only just one of the vertical strings snapping but on yours it could snap here or there...
99% of the time I break the main string. Only two times have I broken the cross string: when I return a smash and it hits the string bed funny.
Yeah, the PG65 = 0.70mm, which is the same thickness at BG-65. It's not as durable as BG-65 but plays better.
to all who use an AT700 4u, is it safe to string it at around 29lbs? being 4u, will the frame be alright with it. thanks.
