hi i was wondering what strings you would recomend for more power..........i know it varies on the raqcette and shaft flex but i was wondering if there was a rule of thumb that a sertain string has beter power accapabilities...
strictly power, usually the thin strings. within yonex strings, definitely bg66 has most power. draw back is poor durability, and loses tension fast.
BG-66 is certainly a good one. BG-80 and BG68Ti are also good choices. However, BG68Ti could be a little slippery if you are not used to it.
Just strung my racket with Tactic 65Ti to 30/32 lbs. Excellent power and control. Sounds sweet too. I will try the same with Yonex BG-65ti next for comparison.
Yep, I tried 3 packs of the Tactic 65Ti (0.68mm) and it's very lively and durability was decent for the performance. Next up for me are MMOA's 0.68mm and 0.69mm strings, Fleet Ti String 0.70mm, and a few other 0.70mm strings from True Speed.
*In my best Confucious voice* "DinkALot say: string less than 0.68mm in thickness will generally perform admirably but break in short time."
LOL! What about at relatively lower tensions of say less than 22 lbs? Is durability an issue for the thinner strings even at the lower tensions? Thanks!
Hey, maybe you can try using the 0.66mm string at 30/32 lbs and use stencil in the center to hold the string together and then apply some lotion on the surface to moisturize the string so it will last longer and not dry out so fast or get fuzzy.
DinkALot say: twenty-two pound tension, much too low for high repulsion string that it is; but will last longer.
22 works great for me.... I actually strung it at 23 or soemthing and I couldn't get enough length in my clears...now it dropped to ~22 (compared with other rackets, tone was just a high *ting* and teh other was 22) it feels terrific... it's all personal, but people here on the BC tend to recommend high-tensions...though in Holland I've only seen one case of somebody stringing at 29lbs...and he's ranked #150 mens singles worldwide... so I say, try it out and build it up slowly...
Very wise words. For me it depends on the racket. If a 2U racket, 24/27 is ideal. If 3U: 25/28, if 4U: 30/33.
Is this just you? or are high-tensions like that very common were you live? or worldwide for that matter?
A new string to add to the collection: True Speed Power (TSP) 0.75mm string! Yes, 0.75mm. This string barely fits inside the share grommets, I had a heck of a time pre-stringing the racket with this string. If you have the ability to flex this string, you will generate tremendous power. It makes the loudest "BOOM!!!" of any string I have tried and hits bombs. Unfortunately, it seems that most people cannot flex the string so maybe the TSP is only for select people.
