hi at all is it a good idea to pull a towel grip over a normal (manufacturer) grip, or s this too much control loosing?
I have just put a DIY (do it yourself) towel grip on my racquet, on top of the stock grip. I have yet to try it out at the gym. From what I can tell by just holding the racquet, it seems to be a bit heavier overall (but that is to be expected). By putting the towel grip on, it did not seem to throw off the balance of the racquet too much, although I believe there is a slight shift. The thickness of the grips on top of each other is not an issue for me. The racquet was G4 to start with, and was a bit thin for my hands, the towel grip makes it more comfortable. I'm going to have a chance to head out to the gym later on this week, I'll update you once I have a chance. I'm also interested in what others think of doing this, Should I have taken off my stock grip?
I would remove the stock grip, clean the wood handle of any excess debris, add a layer of either electric tape or clear packaging tape then add the towel grip. This way, when you need to remove the towel grip, it'll come off easy. Also, you may need to experiment with the towel grip, tape and the method in which you layer it to get the ideal grip size. Of course for the towel grip, ideally, non-overlapping.
