http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/commonwealth_games/schedule/4662600.stm adjust the day by day schedule on the right, and it gives the times and channel for each sport. Looks like some good coverage albeit at some unsociable hours (For European Viewers). I am booking my time off work now!
BBC coverage Looking at the schedule, there are some slots which are 8 hours long! Wonder how they're going to fill that much airtime? Hope it won't be like the last Olympics where when there was no match on, the camera men and commentators just went for coffee and left the camera running, pointing at an empty court for half an hour.
BBC coverage Surely the BBC and Sky will use the same feeds, and just have their own commentators? The TV coverage during the Sydney Olympics was excellent, miles better than the Athens games (but still not as good as the AE), and don't get me started on the last World Championships in Anaheim! Let's hope that the Commonwealth Games use the same production company.
BBC have 5 interactive channels on Sky digital, but only 3 on terrestrial digital. e.g. March 16th 12 hours on Sky 5 hours on terrestrial It won't be different commentators. It's a BBC channel available from satellite as opposed to a BBC channel available on terrestrial.
How can you get the non-freeview BBC streams? There is still more than usual I think, although most is on the non-freeview. We can only hope we do well, so more comes on the mainstream channels.
by being a SKY digital subscriber. maybe also on cable - dunno. P.S. in their schedules Freeview 1 is BBC1 on freeview Freeview 2 is 301 or 701 on freeview Freeview 3 is 302 or 702 on freeview
BBC coverage Ah, I see. Looking over the entire week's schedule, it looks like most of the later rounds are only available on the interactive channels. Hope they do some kind of highlights show on the freeview channels. At least the coverage is of decent quality. Saw the South Africa v Singapore match last night. Good camera angles and dark background, easy to see the rallies. Match was really one-sided, though I guess that should be expected. The South Africans were part-timers, compared to the full professional Singaporeans, some of whom were ex-Chinese nationals.
If you don't have SKY, you can get the Interactive streams online here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/commonwealth_games/video_and_audio/default.stm Click on Live: Commonwealth Games BBC TV coverageand choose the appropriate stream. Quality is on par with ASF videos seen here for download. Note: Only available to UK internet users.
I've only seen 1 of the matches, and it was the usual suspects. Gillian Clark and a man (probably Simon Archer, maybe Darren Hall, can't remember)
David mercer or Barry Davies. I agree the coverage is very poor, both televised and reports of results generally. BBC radio and TV are not reporting results at all. Is it not within their Licence agreement that the coverage is free?
Its David Mercer. Except now for some matches they have some Australian commentators who no nothing about badminton and have nothing better to say than 'Oh, thats a good shot...' or 'He's levelled the score at 11-all now...'. i think they mentioned that televised coverage is provided by a Chinese station, i acually think its pretty good, if at a slightly awkward time.
I think this goes for all IBF tournaments. The time can't be helped, they are the other side of the world.
