hello. i was wondering if any of u guys know the rankings of secondary/JC teams in Singapore?
as far as i know i think Montford sec, Maris Stella and Anglican are pretty strong sec sch teams. As for JCs is it RJC > TJC > ACJC > VJC ??

    thanks in advance

    North Zone: Montford
South Zone: ACS (Independent), ACS (Barker)
    East Zone: Anglican, Victoria

These four secondary schools are traditionally very strong. If you dig deeper, you will notice that most Singapore players are from these schools :)

    JC: VJC
Anglican and Victoria players tend to enter VJC, which makes them always title contender every year.

Don't forget the Singapore Sports School. :D

And what have you found out for the primary schools? The best in these schools will most certainly be 'gobbled' up by the prestigious sec schools!:crying:

Basically, the coach for both Montford and VJC is Wong Shoon Keat. So, both standards should be quite high considering Wong Shoon Keat's abilities.

Boys side, maris stella high is also good and ang mo kio sec is actually not that bad too. I saw AMK played once, and i was quite impressed. The others are all what everyone mentioned.

As for the girls side, some good contenders are Raffles girls, tanjong katong girls [coached by wong shoon keat too], saint nicholas girls and paya lebar methodist.

    Thank you for updating us.

How are the groups differentiated - by age? Any of the above names are first-timers which did not feature previously?

Montfort>Sports School>ACSI are the top three if I'm not wrong.

For everyone's info, the results of the recently concluded National Schools tournament (2006) are:

    C Division (Under-14):
    1st - Montfort Sec
    2nd - ACS (Independent)
    3rd - Raffles Institution
    4th - Maris Stella High
Singapore Sports School got knocked out of top 4 spot by Maris Stella and Montfort.

    B Division (Under-17):
    1st - Montfort Sec
    2nd - Singapore Sports School
    3rd - ACS (Independent)
    4th - Maris Stella High
Ralles Institution got knocked out of top 4 spot by ACS (Independent) and Maris Stella.

So the current "unofficial" Top 5 secondary schools in Singapore are obviously (not in any order):
    1) Montfort Sec
    2) ACS (Independent)
    3) Raffles Institution
    4) Singapore Sports School
    5) Maris Stella High

A Division tournament has not started.

Nice to hear from you Mongoose. I suppose you witnessed the finals. Are you now in the teaching profession? When and where will the A Div finals be held?

I understand that the better schools are importing from neighbouring countries and are able to give the Sports School a run for their money. This is good for the competition.

Thanks for the info and look forward to seeing you someday. :)
