Hi there. I am expecting to be getting a new racket soon and I'm not sure what type of strings to get. I am more of a control player instead of a 'Big' hitter. I'm looking for good touch AND durability because I don't want to use up too much money. If you have any suggestions , please post them up. Thanks in advance , Much Appreciated.
BG 65 is best for all around players. It has good durability, very nice control, and decent power for smashes.
I agree with Sir DinkALot. BG-80 is a great choice. However, if you have any problem breaking BG-80 in 6 month, get BG-85 for even better repulsion and feel.
I agree with both of them. BG85's durability is about half of BG80, but if we talking about months vs. years of breakage, the price effect is very minimal. However, if we talking about 7 days vs. 15 days vs. 30 days (BG65), then, the price could become a factor.
strings lasting 6 months? they feel "dead" to me after 2/3/4.... I strung two rackets (same racket, weight and grip) at teh same time at ~10kgs. one snapped and I grabbed the other..instantly all my services, lobs clears went a foot out...this was just three weeks! imagine 6 months....23lbs would be 17 or something? you'd be scared to death of your own power after it finally snaps....or you'll hurt yourself
You could also consider using the Gosen Pro 70 string - it's similar ot that of the Pro 66 which I use.
Hi Jerby, It might be a shock to you. Some of the uncle I play with in our club has the origional OEM string after 3 yr. For me, I have 4 racquets I rotate with. Cab30ms and NS8K for single and 2 Cab20ms for double. I only use BG-85 @20X22 lb and they usually last me 6 mo becuase I rotate my racquets every week. Also, I only play 2 times and 2 hr each a week. My strings just refuse to die... My be if I try G string, it will break faster?
Yeah, i know people like that, it's a pitty tough. but if they enjoy it like that. what would be wrong with it? it's just that I couldn't play with it... bg-85 doesn't loosen a lot, especially is your switch between rackets...but those are quite different rackets... ns8k<->cab20/30ms? why? how do you choose wich racket to play with? don't you have trouble adjusting?
I usually play front during double, so Cab20ms works out fine. I use Cab30ms for single because I need that extra length for little more power and reach. I just got the NS8K 1/2 yr ago and I like to too. Both Cab30ms and NS8K are 3U so the swings are about the same. However, NS8K has better control but Cab30ms has better power.
