Wang Lin defeated nehwal... It seems like this thread is full of praises as if she won an Olympic gold. lol

I like her style of play. Lets see how she maintains her consistency in future tournaments when she meets nehwal again.

haha. of course she didn't won any Olympic gold. it's just that she can manage to reach SF of a SS after her long injury period that i think make a lot of people surprised and get 'high'. hehe.

and beside that, the opponent she defeated to reach that SF was SN, who is known as an elite player already. so her winning there became some 'double surprise', dan make fans even more excited i think.

but of course, that one single victory still can't describe the condition of two players i think. and like you, i also really want to see how is WL's progress in the future. especially when she meets SN again as your wish.

I don't know how to translate what her injury was: 浙江对阵北京队的比赛，王琳再次受伤，医院确诊结果为前交叉韧带断裂，准备接受手术。Something like ligament rupture and she is awaiting surgery.

Poor girl, when will she ever be free from injury long enough to regain her form. So injury prone and unlucky,her fate is worse than Simon Santoso's and no better than Wang Xin's. Really pity her. Will she be able to take the blow this time?

So I guessed as much it was Anterior Cruciate Ligament tear on her knee (I didn't have a good technical dictionary to help me and my Mandarin is quite limited).

Mister, I did say I didn't know how to translate the words in Mandarin, that's why I posted the original words bolded; neither did I say it was " just some ligament ". What's the lol for though I appreciate your help?

OK, now that I know the English rendering, it is anterior cruciate ligament - 前十字韧带 (Qián shízì rèndài)

So sad, it has to happen just when she is showing good signs of recovering her form by beating Saina Nehwal recently and probably overcoming her injury phobia too. Sigh.I was even entertaining the thought that she has a fighting chance of winning the upcoming MAS Open next January.

Wonder how she is taking it this time. Hope she is not too disheartened as to give up competitive badminton for good. At age 23 (born 30th Mar 1989), she can still make a comeback,just that the road to recovery in every sense of the word may be tougher, really testing her strength of character, willpower and determination. Such a pity.

The Chinese article didn't say. Anyway, even if it's a different knee,it's cold comfort.

Just hope it's not a dolorous blow to her, one which not only seriously dent her self-confidence but also adversely affect her mental strength and resulting in long-lasting phobia from which she may never recover again. An athlete's nightmare, third time unlucky.

Just in case some of you thought there seems to be a difference between the two terms 前交叉韧带 and 前十字韧带, the Chinese characters 交叉 and 十字 are synonymous meaning 'cross, cruciate', if I'm not wrong.
