Recommendations on "cheap" shuttles

I really like the RSL's Tourney 7. I guess the quality's decent. The Silver Feather's slightly better than that though. But since the Tourney has a more decent price, I use this for practice.

 

It's pretty much a mission impossible to get some decent practice grade shuttle under US$10 in US market at the moment. A lot of practice grade shuttles are some how not very consistent in quality (flight and durability). It really various from batch to batch.

If you really use a lot of shuttles, I will recommend you raise your budget to $12-$14 range. Those shuttles are much more reliable, and even the used up shuttles are good for drills. If you order in bulk orders (25-50+), there's discount as well. Therefore, it's a save in a long run.

Another way is to order bulk from Asia, but the transaction, communication, shipping and possible duty tax etc might be quite annoying.

 

I think players in USA and Canada like to use shuttles better than RSL No.7 grade. First reason is Philippines has higher humidity than here. which make birds last longer. Second, the price issue. So players here most use better quality birds for practice like LazyBuddy said. They use RSL No.4 or No.3 or equal quality shuttles for practice. vbmenu_register("postmenu_385672", true);

I tried 2 tubes back in 2003 time frame, and it's only good for drills. The flight was fine, but durability is no where near great. If you tend to mis hit a lot, then the feather will be chopped off easily. However, with my own experience, it's still a better deal than WS400.

 

The birdies for Genji(www.bestbuyplaza.com) is pretty good.i have used them and i like it better then Yonex birds. and they are i think 15 dollars per a can. but sometimes 1 bird may be badly produced but that doesnt happen alot. like mabye 1 bird in 7 cans? if ur looking for a can of birds under 20 dollars go and buy Genji birds.and if u live in fremont or miilptas u can go to the store and buy them(i live in fremont) and while ur there u should go to CCIC church =)

i dont know whats a ws-400 cost... lol

 

I forgot about the benefits of living in a tropical country. But I don't mind living somewhere colder.

I also forgot to include RSL Officials. I've also tried these Kimoni shuttles here in a tournament. The flight's nice, I'm not sure about the durability since we changed the shuttle a few times; not because it was badly damaged, it was because we can.

 

hmmm... prob u all should try gosen cosmic ultra.. they fly pretty ok... about $7US a tube of 10.. thats right 10!! dunno why they choose to put ten in a tube rather then 12.. but..it is still cheap for a reasonable good birdie

 

Sounds like a marketing strategy. Instead of increase the price, they shrink the quatity. So, the price tag is attractive, w/o sacrifice profit.

 

WS400 is around US$7-8 range, while Genji (not sure which grade you refer to) is $15. You are only 200% over his desired budget...

Email her LB. She can give you a quote. I don't think Toronto to NYC should be that bad shipping wise. I think Sosan shuttles are better than a lot of other popular ones. Including the darn YY Aerosensa 30 our club provides.

Easy there LB, that was back in 2003. I tried the HQ Team shuttles recently and they are not good. A couple of smashes and they are history. The feathers are now razor thin. So watch out.

Note: I like Hi-Qua shuttles; in general, they are good to very good. However, the Team shuttles are not good and not representative of Hi-Qua's quality.

 

Yeah, the recent trent in shuttle quality is definitely going down. Great shuttles become ok, and ok ones become crap. The original cheap crap become simply un-usable.

 

affordable price for good&durable shuttlecocks

Don't waste anymore time to look around for cheap price for shuttlecocks.
A friend of mine got some good quality shuttlecocks imported from Vietnam,but it is made for U.S weather. I have used these birdies to play at GGBC in Menlo Park for the past 3 weeks.I am amazed with the durability and the quality of it. 1-2 games(21 points.).I also purposely played with some of the beginner players which they hit the birdie on the racket frame half of dozen times and still the shaft of the feather still remain strong.
Best of all,i paid $11 bucks per tube(12 birdies.)
If i steam them before i play, that last even longer.
Don't get me wrong,i like aeroplane(black label),Victor(green), RSL, and few other brands from other players(trumps,Youhe.)
But paying $18.5-$21 per tube on the 5-6 days schedule,you could do the math.

I've been buying from this ebay seller I found. I really like his "goose" feather shuttlecocks, before I've only been playing with Duck feathers.

In my opinion, it's really worth the price. I got it for USD$10 per tube for their practice level shuttlecock, I think it's comparable to Yonex AS 15 as they claimed, and USD $14 per tube for their tournament level shuttlecock, comparable to Yonex AS 30.

Since his store was nearby, I was able to do local pick-up to avoid the S&H, and I had to buy 25 tubes to get that price but I think it's worth it.
