Hi I have a Yonex Armortec 800DF and i bought this because i wanted to have a little bit better smash but a way better clear. A little off track ,but before i purchased this racket i had a yonex muscle power 28 and i didn't like it because it had to much flex and my clears were horrible . i borught it bak and purchased this racket. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE STRINGING TENSION TO BE ON THIS RACKET(YONEX AT800DF) SO THAT I CAN GET A BETTER CLEAR.
The racquet won't clear for you, no matter what tension. If you can't clear, go find a coach, or have someone show you.
what u mean by ur clears were horrible? if it doesn't reach baseline then it might just be ur technique anyway.. try 18-20?
no with my old muscle power racket,in singles when they would serve it long to the backcourt,i would hit the birdie and it would only make it about half on the oppenents side,so half way on the other side, and with this armortec, will it make it go a little farther???
It sounds more like your technique, but to make it go further, try 18 lbs. It doesn't sound like it is the rackets fault. You should find someone to help you nonetheless.
generally, it's the reverse, lower tension == more power but some ppl feel that higher tension == more power (i think taneepak said it) personally, i find most power generated from the more comfortable tension for me
o ok,yes b/c i was reading other ppls and its so confusing cuz everybody has different opinions and i don't kno which 1 to believe so..
Barr J If cannot clear with a mp28..........then a new racket will not help you. I used mp28's for a while and they have sufficient power. Instead of changing racket, change you strings first. What string are you using now? Are the strings the original (crap ones). I would reccomend tension around: 20-22lbs for the mp28. bg80,bg85 strings. Inexperienced players are unlikely to benefit from higher tensions : 24lbs+ Pracitice and technique is the main thing that will help you.
well the amortec strings are green yonex ones and i didn't like the mp28 because it was a control racket and i wanted more of a clear/smash racket, and u reccommend to string at 18-20 because right now this armortec is strung at 22,but im trying it out 2morrow.
i had yonex strings on the mp28(control),But they were already on the racket when i bought it, my new armortec has strings by done the guy at sports experts and the strings r high quality yonex(im pretty sure).
Try this racket out tomorow and see if it makes a difference. If not stick with the racket you have and try differnt strings.
thanx, ooo so if i don't find a huge imporvent with the yonex armortec 800 then i should go bak to mp28 and just change the strings,do u think that would help?
As from the other thread you posted in, I now know that this lack of power is due to your technique-------> as you do not know how to sciccor kick. Learn how to do this well...........when you can you will relise it wasn't your racket but the way you are performing the shot.
o ok,its just that scissor kick u just explained to me will take alot of practice =( to get it down and my vertical(jumping ability isn't really that good =( .
I do not jump up high to do a scissor kick..........for me it is more of a skipping motion where i am not that high off the ground. I am tall so i suppose i don't really need to in most cases. Jumping high is not that important......what is: That you rotate you body whilst doing it to get power from your body mass rotating . Just start off slow and get the feet right. Trust me, it doesn't take that long to learn........once you get the hang of it you will be glad you put the effort in to learn it............and when you get a racket that has more sting + plus this improved technique--------> Kaboom! You will get full potential out of a new/better racket.
o I ok,so I like jump backwards on 1 foot and keep my balance and while im in the air I hit the birdie. Is that correct?
yes, you land on your non-racket foot behind you first. And your racket foot that is now in front contacts the ground not long after. If you can get some footage of this it will be alot easier to see and understand........pro players use this alot. Mate, this is so hard to explain in text. There has to be someone at the place you play that can do this and I am sure would be more than happy to demonstrate it and show you how. It is probably the easiest way to be taught.
