is it just me or does everyone's shoe wear out at the same area?
my shoes always wear out at the circled portion. does it have anything to do with incorrect footwork?

Yes... and no. It should have some wear and tear when you lunge and push off, but too much meant that you're not leaning forward often enough. I used to have lots of wear and tear in that area until my friends pointed out to me that I was flat footed whenever I hit the shuttle.

First of all, increase your endurance and stamina through simple exercises like skipping and squats because fatigue will slip you back to poor form.

Second, whenever you're moving about on the court... make sure that your center of gravity is always slightly infront of you. Ie. ' be on your toes'. The heels should be slightly elevated (but still looks like they touch the floor) whenever you move. Only time you step with your heel is when you lunge in any direction.

ok, i'll try to work on it.
the strange thing is that the wear only happens to my left shoe. meaning i only lunge with my right leg. hmm...

You're probably dragging your non-racquet foot when you recover (assuming that you're lunging properly and if you're a right hander). That's the worst place to have wear and tear.
