Good day all, I'm kinda saving to buy an AT700 soon. But it's really hard to decide which one is the 'perfect' one for me (grip size). I'm considering either 3UG5 or 3UG4. How would it affect my speed, manuverability, power, and feel (touch). This is my 'BIGGEST' investment in badminton so would really appreciate if I can get the assurance and confidence in this 'small/slight difference' matter. Sorry to make such a big fuss over such small matter I suppose. But I guess it really matters for me to know and be assured that I got the right one. I'm 6 Foot 1. And my hands isn't very big nor very small (average). Just to give some info for anyone that can give me opinions so that I can make up my mind. Would really appreciate any help from anyone.
But won't it affect my 'feel' or touch as there is so much 'cushioning' from the wood all the way to my hands. Well, I'm think I might get the G5 one but so far I only held the G4 ones. Not too confident in my choice. Yea, it might just be a petty issue. But what's the main thing I want to ask is between G4 and G5 does it make much of a difference? Personally?
try to hold a g4 and a g5 grip, see which is more comfortable for you, you said too much grip might make you loose feel, so better get the grip size your going to be comfortable with. i have a racket with g4 and one with a g5 grip size, with the same overgrip i could feel that theres a little difference. i prefer g5 size.
Um, from my experience, I've learned that the thicker the handle, the lighter the racquet feels. Hehe. Well, hope this helps. Good choice with getting the 3U instead of 4U! =)
with regards to the weight, 3u is still 3u, but if you add overgrip to a handle it'll add weight and make the head feel lighter.
Thanks Roydy for the comforting assurance on the weight. I feel that the 4u is a little light. And I'm always seeking to improve and I bet I can improve further with a slightly heavier racket. I'm not planing to put an overgrip as I really wana 'feel' the racket and I love small grip size that's why I'm opting for a G5. Can't stand G4. I just used a Cab 8 Tour SP which was a 2UG4 and I TOTALLY HATE IT!! With a PASSION!! Hate G4's (personally) And the 2U made it worst. Too heavy for me.
Where the HECK is those 3UG5's?? Sorry to bother you guys again. But anyone from Malaysia knows where can I get a 3UG5 Armortec 700?? I find the best place in Pertama C. and even Puchong's SunRise SDN BHD also don't have 3UG5. Some how every where I go, I've seen so far at least 20 Armortec 700 around alrd and 90% are 4UG4 rackets. Only 10% is 3U but sadly G4. Grrrr.... I've really been looking around but I can't find a 3UG5 model. Any help/suggestions guys??
A G5 with a single overgrip (double layer is good). Depends on how small your hands is, otherwise, you could go with G4 overgrip as well if it suits your hand. About the sanding down part, it is not recommended because it would affect the racket's balance which has been set to work with a particular grip size. Also the wood has a specific thickness as well.
just to add that overgrips also come in varying thickness and will affect the handle circumference and "feel". I own 2 3UG5 MP99s, one uses Prince Duratred overgrip which is fairly thin and the other uses Wilson Pro Overgrip which is comparable in thickness to the yonex supergrap. I'm still in the process of determining which i feel more comfortable with.
Hei all. I'm 6"1' And my hand is just medium size if I can put it that way. But I really hate the G4's. I take it up and it just doesn't 'feel right' to me. I really love the G5 model. I normally use a karakal grip. Now slowly switching to the yonex ones. Not the supergrap though. I can't find yonex supergrap around here. Ya, I don't plan to sand the wood down. Well, where on the land of M'sia can I find a darn 3UG5 Armortec 700?? grr... Oh and another question. If the grip is small and the head is heavy comparing to a bigger grip and same heaviness on the head, can I produce more swing power with the smaller grip? Am I clear on this one or do yall get me? Lets say an Armortec 700 G5 compared to a Armortec 700 G4. With the same head heaviness but grip differences, I dunno about physics or whatever. So wana ask u all. Does G5 produce more power or G4 according to theory??
It can't be directly assessed, but one thing is for certain: The variability is too small, and your own performance variabilities are larger. If you fit on a G4, you'll be able to use it well. If you prefer G5, using a G4 will confuse you until you get used to it. I've used G3-G5.... I'm quite OK with changes nowadays, as long as the string tension is fine.
Ic, thanks Hagane. I am just stupidly waiting for an answer from shops to notify me when the 3UG5 model comes. But my 'tournament' is on next Wednesday. Not much time left. Grrr... Really pray and hope they get back to me REALLY soon!! =P
