So I hear about mandarin that you have to wear badminton shoes, which I'm fine with. Must have a white shirt on while playing? Also for membership if anyone goes there do you have to pay 400$ a year or just 400$ for 5 years cuz I'm really cheap :). If neone can get back to me on this
    KTHX.....

P.S How do you signup for offsaa with u're school? :(

Sorry I can only answer your last question lol. To get to OFSAA you have to win the regional championships. Top 2 move on from there to OFSAA. However, to get to the championships, you have to get through round 1 and 2. :) Toronto is slightly different from York Region in terms of the paths and setting up of teams so just wait till someone from Toronto area can you a better explanation than me =P

Yes, you do need white t-shirt in order to play in there. And you can also play as a guest for $10.70, but you need a Mandarin member to accompany.

Why is it mandatory to wear a white T-Shirt? White makes it hard to see the shuttle when it comes off the opponent's racket when it's close to the body.

It's sort of a private club rule. A lot of the private clubs within the GTA have that rule and some are pretty strict about it. I personally like the rule and I've never had a problem seeing it come off a a shot that's close to the opponent's body. I have more of a problem with white ceilings and walls though.

I believe it has something to do with the traditional of badminton, where the British were playing sport in white clothing (correct me if I am wrong). Some other private clubs here required you to wear both white top and shorts, so Mandarin isn’t the worst.

Well, in badminton tradition, they played with wood rackets. How come they don't enforce that? ;) :p

By all white do they mean 100% white? or can it be a white shirt that's maybe 85% white?

Well, they let you have shirts with coloured stripes (They sell them). Personally, I have never noticed a problem with this. I have problems with places that need white shorts.

The white shirt rule is stupid IMO. Even the most traditional tournament, the All England, has abandoned this rule for many years. Not to mention the white top only rule is making badminton looks dull and old fashion from the outsider.

Now I wonder if they would ask Gong Ruina to wear white top only when she come for the exhibition games.

i don't find the all white policy any intrusive...
    i find it quite nice
maintains a nice decor of the game and makes it look neat and uniform
but then i also see that it can pose a problem for lots of beginners who dont' usually own white sports shirts... etc etc
i had to buy new stuff when i got on the school team... hahaha
