    Default cab 30, woven 7

    hi there,

I've got some money nurnign a hoel in my pocket and want to try out a power-racket.
I'm a placement-wristy player but I'm starting to power-play more and more...I own an at500 and an ns8000. feel-wise I've foudn the ns8k a great step up from the at500...power has decreased a little bit.

so the question: If I were to get a power racket (more 'power' than the at500) wich would I get? and, maybe unaswerable, how do they compare overall?

I havea Cab30ms and ever tried the Woven 7. Cab30 is lighter with Ti shaft. However, I do like Woven 7's grommet.

Woven 7's frame is also very strong . One can really torture it at 30 lbs + without worry.

Well, I can say with absolute certainty that the SOTX is the hardest smashing racket I have used.........it is like a cannon!

Doesn't feel too heavy either. Good control.

Seems to really 'catapult' the shuttle off the strings.

A little bit pricey but cheaper than your ns8k........well over here it is cheaper.

    Sotx heads are super strong!

I think that in terms of feel, cab30ms would be fairly close to the AT500. So if you want a good feel for control plus a definite upgrade in shere power, Cab30ms will be a good bet. I can't really say much for the Woven 7 cuz there aren't many SOTX dealers near where I live.

Cab30ms requires a bit wrist strength and technique, so it's more down to the player him/herself. If you can get your hand on this racket, demo it before purchase, and see if the performance is a boost when compare to ur ns8k/at500.

    more wrist? wow, I though teh ns8k required a lot of wrist...but I'll try..thanks!

btw everybody, is the cab30ms head heavy or even balanced? poor comparison probably, but what's the balance point?

    sorry to bump....

I already know the w-7 can take 31 lbs...how much woudl the cab30ms take? how high is the risk of stringing over that?

I am sure you can string cab30ms upto 30+lb as well, if the stringer knows what s/he is doing. Pros also use cab30ms, such as Shon from KOR. For any rackets (regardless whatever the spec claim), the higher the tension you put on, the more risk you have to take.

Cab30ms is listed as even balanced (around 290mm). Personally, I took the original grip out, so, it feels a bit more head heavier (still pretty balanced). It does require quite a bit wrist, as the shaft is at least stiff or even higher.

290 is even balanced? really? the woven 7 is 290-300, i thought that was head heavy (as endloaded as sotx makes them..)

or do you mean there are also cab30's with ~285 etc?

I can't remember the exactly balanced point for cab30ms, you might get the information from specification. However, a single number can't tell you anything. Other factors might be:

    1. Balanced point is measured before being strung, so, the extra weight from string will change the measurement.

    2. Change of grip will change the measurement.

    3. Factors of string type / tension / stiffness / head frame will also effect the hitting feeling.

I would say after using a woven 7, yes it does feel headheavy.
