wow, that's a pretty expensive FAKE

    Reason:

we know it from your shaft serial and cone code

    shaft serial: 7617676
    cone code : 291203JP

shaft serial is one of a kind serial number for each yonex racket that made in Japan (Yonex made in Taiwan has different way to number their racket)
that serial number shows you this is racket number XXX that yonex produce

cone code is the date when they make the racket (and for which area this racket for):
it is based on DDMMYX(and 2 letter code area)
    D: day
    M: month
    Y: year

    291203JP
29th of December 2010 for Japan distribution
there are many codes, JP for Japan, UK for United Kingdom, TH for thailand, CH for China, etc.

now what we do is to match up the shaft serial and cone code

for 2010 racket, most of them have shaft serial 9XXXXXX
your's is too low 7XXXXXX (I think this is shaft serial for racket production 2007-2008)

it doesn't match up that's why we know it is fake
this is the fourth fake racket that has shaft serial and cone code that almost looks like your's
one advice: becareful when buying JP code (in cone code)

really, you should go back to the shop and demand a refund

    racket model: Yonex Nano 9900
    shaft serial: 7371680
    cone code : 081092JP
source : unknown, sold by former coach (family friend)
    price : US$ 150
---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----

Reason I'm asking is because I've played only about 5 hours with this racket, and after hitting the skirt of the shuttle on a shot, the top of the frame snapped for no apparent reason.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    and usually using JP code
it seems this is a trend for fake racket

Thank you very much for confirming. I was almost sure it was fake. Can you please tell me how you know so I can explain to the seller what is wrong? He sold over 20 rackets to his other current students as well... what a shame.

you should try to read post number #12531 (14 post above this post)

    I will just copy paste
we know it from your shaft serial and cone code

    shaft serial: 7371680
    cone code : 081092JP

shaft serial is one of a kind serial number for each yonex racket that made in Japan (Yonex made in Taiwan has different way to number their racket)
that serial number shows you this is racket number XXX that yonex produce

cone code is the date when they make the racket (and for which area this racket for):
it is based on DDMMYX(and 2 letter code area)
    D: day
    M: month
    Y: year

    081092JP
08th of October 2009 for Japan distribution
there are many codes, JP for Japan, UK for United Kingdom, TH for thailand, CH for China, etc.

now what we do is to match up the shaft serial and cone code

for 2009 racket, most of them have shaft serial 8XXXXXX - 9XXXXXX
your's is too low 7XXXXXX (I think this is shaft serial for racket production 2007-2008)

it doesn't match up that's why we know it is fake

you should ask for a refund to your former coach
