    Hi all

I'm new to this forum. I've recently had a racquet repaired from a coach at my club. I believe he has supplied me with a fake racquet. It took him 15 months to replace this after months and months of phone calls and emails I finally got a new one (not repaired) last week.

These are the details of the racquet.

---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----
    racket model: Yonex Arcsaber 9
    shaft serial: 2914021
    cone code : 208828JP
    source : N/A, N/A
    price : 100 (Racquet & repair)
---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----

Thank you, I hope you can help me out.

    Alex

Just adding a picture of the serial numbers, the 208828JP is suspect to me.

That's what I thought, just wanted to confirm this.

The person in question has accepted that he bought this racket off eBay. Now I've got the task of getting my money back!

    Thank you.

I should have researched the serial numbers more thoroughly. This one seems to have originated in Singapore (SP) around 20th day of the 70th month of the year 2010 I'm guessing? This particular seller is convinced her (husband's) racket is genuine since the serial number is engraved. I did research the engraving literature, but not the nomenclature prior to purchase. She is refusing a return. Her husband has conveniently forgotten where he bought it, how he bought it, and when he bought it. My guess is he bought it on ebay from a Singapore ebayer. The bag that came with the racket is clearly a fake as my other Armortec bag that came with a US serial numbered racket is definitely legitimate. Ahhh...the joys of ebay shopping.

Can someone confirm this serial number as fake so that I can start the grievance process?

His wife is the one pulling the strings. She is convinced that an engraved serial number means the racket is legit. Now that she is no longer responding to messages via eBay, I'll have to begin the PayPal grievance process. What a pain.

I am interpreting that serial number correctly?

I'm going through the same process via eBay. I should have never bought the racket without researching the serial number stuff. :/ She doesn't want to refund the racket. Do I have a case for a racket that has a 70th month serial number on the cone--207002SP. :P

    • racket model: Yonex Voltric 80 (VT80)
      shaft serial: 4309048
      cone code : 170432US
source : Amazon.com(amazon is the seller, not any third party)
      price : $152.36

I went to my local guy in Dallas to get it stringed, His family runs American Badminton Center in Dallas. He was a bit concerned with the racquet and the price. He was comparing side by side with another VT80 thats over a year or so old. The laser engraving on mine is a lot lighter(whiter) in color than the old one. But the engraving is exact same quality. Also the grip was a bit over the logo too as per picture. There was a slight diff in paint job also. He also said something about the Yonex logo on the T joint looking funny. The racquet is sold directly by Amazon and they literally just put the box from Yonex CA in the Amazon box with the shipping receipt and all also attached.

It was a steal on Amazon.com, since it's amazon as the seller, I assume I'm safe, but I'm not 100% even with all the docs etc.

      What do you guys think?
