Hi, I'm a high school badminton player. I just received my Mp-100 from the mail. I was curious what would be the best string type and tension for nylon birds. I like it when it makes an exploding sound when I smash. Please let me know guys. Thanks
Not sure what would be the best string and tension for you since I have no idea of your skill level, including strength. Here is what I found that had worked for my re-string customers with similar criteria, ie MP100 and nylon birds: They like using tension of 18-20 lbs using Ashaway Micropower XL string. FWIW. Cheers.
I agree with the string recommended by jayes, but I believe 18 - 20 lbs is way too low. I find that anything under 23lbs is way too low for MP100, it just doesn't work, I don't know why. 24lbs is best for me, so I string it 25 lbs knowing it'll loose up. Ideally I'd string 26 so it'd loosen to around 24 lbs (depending on string) but I can't handle 26. It really depends on your strength. If you can't find Ashaway string, BG-85 is a nice choice as well.
String type/tension is very much subjective. Personally, I will recommend BG65/Bg70pro if the durability is being considered the most. BG80 if performance is the leading horse. Usually 20-22lb is a safe range to start. If you don't feel it works, adjust it to be lowered or higher by 1-2 lb, based on your need.
okay, thanks guys. i'm planning on some Bg65's and 25lb tension. i think i'm about intermediate. what would make that exploding sound on a smash?
never tried mp100 myself, but before i got bg-65 at 23 lbs and made my arms sore. then i was playing with nylon birds, my arms got even worse, so.. if u want exploding sound, i think 18-22 would be the best. it'd make "BOOM" kind of sound when u hit the sweet spot and around it
Ya, if your not able to hit the birdie in the middle of your racket consistently, 25lbs is not a good idea IMO. It can injure your arm, I think 18-21lbs will do.
Honestly... I don't think MP100 performs well at all under 24lbs... you better try it yourself, but it's like two different racquets to me.
