Does anybody have the Yonex 2424 9 racket bag? If so, can you post pictures? I would like to see how many compartments and how big the bag really is.

I wonder how the 2424 9 compares to the new 9624 9 bag.

i don't have the 2424-9 nor the 9624-9, but i do have the 6 version, and my friend has the newer 6 version.

    2424-6 vs 9624-6

2424 feels slightly flimsier, the reflective white strip along the top of the new bag and the extra tubing material along the edges allow the new bag to retain its shape better.

the old bag has 2 options for straps. backpack style or traditional shoulder strap. the buckles are removable and adjustable to new positions. metal hooks and buckles.
the new one has only 1 setting, the backpack style, its buckles are plastic and are the clip type, but they're stitched onto the sides real good, so its real secure. but the problem is, theres no provision in the center of the bag for shoulder-style carrying.

when you wear it as a backpack, the new one is more comfortable, since the straps do not meet right behind your neck. the old bag, since the buckles meet right in the center, the shoulder pads can really press on the sides of your neck at times. depends on how heavy your bag is.

i kinda feel having the shoulder strap option better than being stuck with backpack setting all the time. its just eaiser to pickup and go with the single shoulderstrap option. and you can just switch to backpack style whenever you need.

the old bag has the shoe compartment residing inside one of the two main compartments. the new bag has it protruding right into both.
upside of this is that it allows you to stick the shoes in without stacking. the downside is that it sticks into both compartments.
its not that big of a problem since one end of your racquets are small (the handles) so it just sits ontop of the shoes anyway)

the new bag, due to its shape, is slightly bigger. its not really noticable.

the logos on the new bag are huge. real huge. and theres logos on every side of the bag. its literally a big yonex advertisement compared to the old one.

the bottom of the new bag is one peice of material, while the old bag is two panels stitched together. durability issue? who knows. i dont' see people's 2424's and 2420's falling apart either. probably it just gives it a larger surface to emblazon a yonex logo on. heh.

the nylon seperating the compartments and the thickness of the material on the underside is as thick (or rather, as thin) as the other. no differences here.

number of pockets are the same for the new and old bags.

2 main compartments (racquets, clothes, shuttles, shoes, etc)
    2 large accessory pockets
    1 small accessory pocket.

the 9-sized bags jsut have the added third main compartment i think.

    verdict? its up to you.
both bags are excellent, and basically the same, save for the minor differences i listed above.

the materials and stuff are the same.

pick the one you like best.

one final note, the entire interior of the new bag is neon green. the old one is black.
the new green interior it makes it easier to find really little stuff. like maybe a grommet fell off of an unstrung racquet. haha

the little metal ringed hole on the side of the new bags go into the little accessories pocket. what is it for? aerating shoes? no. its sealed from the shoe compartment. maybe its for headphones. who knows...

I've tried/bought/tested/examined just about every racket bag on the market and still find the 2424-6 and 2424-9 to be the best intermediate and large size bags. The 2424 bags are the most functional and most comfortable to carry. Durability is good but not great if you pack it too tight, the zippers will be the first to go. If you don't over pack the bag, the bag has excellent durability.

The 2424-9 is still currently my go-to bag.

seem like the new (2006) bag only has one shoulder strap located on the side versus last year 2424-X has double shoulder straps mounted at mid point

theres a strap on the far side too. ;) so its also backpack strap design.

you just can't mount it on the middle of the bag. so you can't just throw it on one shoulder, confortably.

the older bags allow you to put it on the sides or the middle.
